Question about Samsung Refrigerators

Open Question

Water has stopped dispensing

I have a two year old Samsung side by side fridge #RS253BAWW. We use the filtered water dispenser on the front at least 12 times daily and it has suddenly stopped dispensing water. None of the lines are kinked, the ice machine is still receiving water and making ice, the filter has been changed and the fridge is functioning normally. Any clues as to what might be the problem? Is it a small motor or something that might need replacing? Any thoughts or comments are most greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time.
Sincerely, Sheri Lee Robinson

    Hi there shugra65's

I have the same problem and had a tech come out who told me my fridge was stocked to full, NOT! The issue is behind the pull oiut drawers in the bottom of the fridge, there is a canister used to cool the water before it is dispensed. the problem is that it is freezing in the canister. I tried to thaw out and it worked for about two days after i cleaned it out and I don't know about you, my thoughts are I either need to change the filter and thaw it out. It has been over 6 months since i changed the filter, otherwise I need to be able to insulate the tank inside to protect it from the temperatures inside the fridge. The unit I have is about 1.5 years old and the problem started about 3 months ago. Let me know if you find anything else out on your end. Thanks

SOURCE: Whirlpool Side By Side not making Ice, but water dispenser works

I just resolved an issue with my kenmore elite side by side refrigerator icemaker (model 106).
It was expensive because I took the long road to fixing the unit myself.

My problem: No water going up to the freezer water dispenser into the icemaker but the water in front of the door working just fine.

-first thing i tried was the simplest. The Internet is clogged with this miracle fix of using a hair dryer to melt the frozen water line going to the dispenser output. This is highly unlikely for our model since the water line is protected within the refrigerator frame.

-2nd thing I replaced my water filter (thinking that there wasn't enough water pressure to trigger the solenoid valve. $40, and still no luck.

-3rd thing was I tested for voltage going to the solenoid. No voltage going to solenoid, so I wasted $30 for a new solenoid.....still no water.

-4th thing was I ordered a new IR sensor and receiver (since the reciever end is where the relay that sends the voltage to the solenoid to turn on and allow water to go up to the dispenser).
My IR sender and receiver appeared to be working flakey.
Installed, still no water. $58 BUCKS ON EBAY (EVERYWHERE ELSE $100+)

-I finally removed the freezer front little white door, I TURNED OFF THE FREEZER SWITCH SO NO VOLTAGE WAS PRESENT, removed the release latch underneath the freezer unit and disconnected, and removed the freezer unit to inspect it further.
When I removed the protective white cover that covers the mechanical wheel, I had a few parts come flying out of it. Turns out that the wheel accessories were damaged. THERE ARE NO REPAIRABLE PARTS ON THE FREEZER UNIT. I FOUND ONE ON EBAY FOR $39 BUCKS + $9 SHIPPING! $48 BUCKS, SWAPPED THE HARNESS AND BOTTOM COVER, AND IN 20 MINUTES, I WAS BACK IN BUSINESS. STARTED MAKING ICE IN ABOUT A HALF HOUR!!!!!

when in doubt, replace the freezer unit for $48 bucks! 7 out of 10 times it will fix your problems. All techs replace the IR set at the same time too which will set you back another $58 bucks.
Good luck! ;)

SOURCE: GE GSS25SGRE side by side water dispenser...

I paid $100 to have a service man pull the back off the refrigerator to tell me that the line was frozen. Someone put the freezer temp very low. Pulled plug, cleaned out refrig. Plugged in after 4 hours, Refrig has worked fine since then, ice maker works, water dispenser is fine.

SOURCE: Water dispenser not working

I have a Hitachi R-M800GM.

When i operate the water dispenser, water flows out from the dispenser [not strong flow]. There is also water flowing out at the bottom of the freezer door [hinge area]

I think the line running inside the freezer door may have come loose? If so, how to reattach it? Do u have any layout drawings of how the hose is being connected.

Please help.

Thanks,

Rick

SOURCE: LG refrigerator won't dispense water any more

The water line is freezing in the door due to deteriorated insulation. The only fix I have found to work on my fridge was to defrost the inside door with a blow dryer. Then place a weedeater replacement line (the orange 10" or so size you find at Lowes' or Home Depot) up through the dispenser nozzle, If the line only travels about 3-4 inches up the nozzle, then ice is still in the tube. Blow dry it until you are able to get water to dispense. After the tube is ice-free, place the weedeater line up throuth the dispenser nozzle leaving about 1/8" sticking out. The dispenser will still work with the line stuck in it. The dispenser will probably freeze again in about 8 hours, But all you need to do each time this happens is to pull the weedeater line out, dispense the water to unclog the ice, and place the weedeater line back in the nozzle. I have been using this method for about a week now and it works great. My GE Side-by-side is also 4 years old and this seems to be a problem with all of them. There is a part you can order to fix the problem, but I have heard it may not work.

MAKING ICE BUT ICE AND WATER DISPENSER QUIT WORKING.

Sounds like a plugged water filter, assuming the water is turned on to the fridge. If you have a manual, refer to the section about water filters. The filter is usually accessible from the front of the fridge at the bottom....requires about a 1/2 turn counter-clockwise. Some units require that the water be turned off first but not all.

If you do not hear a click when activating the dispenser, there could be an issue with the water solenoid (water valve) that opens and closes when you use the water dispenser....agai...check the manual if at all possible.

No cold water

  1. Make sure filter is installed right.
  2. Disconnect water line see if water is flowing from line. May have a water valve in line not working.
  3. reconnect line but leave lose open inline valve just a little see if water flows out. No water PSI may be to low to reach up to fridge or valve stuck closed.
  4. Got water to connection tighten check dispenser for water.
  5. No Water If your system has a reservoir to store & chill water Your float may be stuck locate & check unstick if needed.
  6. Still no water May have faulty dispense value. Check value replace if needed.
Please rate hope this helped. If I can help further I'll standby.

Samsung american fridgefreezer

2 years is much too short for starting problems with a refridgerator contact your dealer for a condition because of warranty on the repair you eventual will spend on it. Hidden defects are factory falts are there some holes for melting water are clogged inside the fridge somewhere
An ordinary refrigerator is made for a 17-year life span. like brands as Bosch Siemens Kuppersbusch easely have that lifetime but your dealer is the right point to get your service .

Amana fridge water filter squealing

I would suggest that you put the new water filter back in and try dispensing water for about ten minutes. If there is still a high pitched noise then you could try bleeding the water line at different points along the water circuit (with control over the incoming supply). The fact that you are forcing water through the tank should normally resolve any air locks. The water filter could also be bled of air. Hope this is of some help.
