Question about iLO DVDR05 DVD Recorder

2 Answers

Recording problem After three dvd brands I have come up with the place on the help screen of the recorder on which brands SHOULD actually work with the machine. My last brand, HP, formatted fine, copied video from our camcorder fine but then I could not get the title option opened to rename the disc or titles. When I opened the dvd drawer, it asked if I wanted to finalize and I said 'no' hoping when I reclosed the drawer it would show me the title list from the recording so I could rename. Nope. It won't bring any options up as it now tells me 'bad disc' after it trys to load and tells me it is recovering from disc error. This has happened now 4 times and two of the dvd brands I have tried are listed as 'compatible' media.

You probably have a ZU unit (label on bottom) unlike the MU1, the ZU always asks to finalize before removing the disc, even on RW. Try leaving more blank space on the disc, sometimes allowing the recording to go too long also makes it throw a coaster.

Forget the list, stick to RW if you can, it will still ask you to finalize, and you will have to let it finalize it before removing it (again the MU is different and I don't have to finalize rw in order to play it in my computer) I like the MU1 so much better.

I have had two of these recorders, Using only Sony + discs or rewriteables is my solution, I will not use any thing else. It may work 1-3 times on others brands then start throwing coasters.
As to renaming, on my model I pull up the tiltle menu then select Try using rewriteables for the other problem as well My model is a little older and lets me take disc out without finalizing then when inserting select title, hit edit on remote and select rename. Maybe if you can skip the finalizing (as with rewritables it will help

Leaves blank TV screen when Return button operated

It sounds as though the unit is actually recording a DVD, but is getting no incoming signal to record. What is your recording source? Satellite and receiver? Antenna? Cable box? In the set-up menu, be sure you have chosen the proper input source; i.e., recording from where? You may be able to access that menu through the Function button on the remote, AFter setting that menu, be sure to press Return to restore the recorder to the ready mode. If you are using the RF input for recording, be sure that is selected as well, as opposed to L1 or L2. The input channel must match the output channel on your receiver, usually channel 3 or four. What is the model number?

I had the same problem on my Philips 3400. Changing media worked. Try RW media if R does not work.

SAMSUNG DVD R120 error EC:0207

I had exactly the same problem -- error message of "This disc can be neither played nor recorded. Please check the disk [EC:0207]" after the machine had been working fine for a year. I downloaded the latest firmware from the Samsung website, burned it to a CD-R disk (took three tries until the DVD Recorder recognized the disk -- worked when I used Rocio CD Creater software), then loaded the firmware updates to the DVD Recorder. On the Samsung website you can retrive the firmware update instructions as well. I had to perform the firmware upgrade several times until it successfully updated both the system firmware as well as the disk firmware. After successfully updating both, the Recorder now recognizes the DVD-R disks and I was able to resume recording. I have however, noted some choppiness with the playback of the newly recorded disks. Other than that, the firmware upgrade successfully resolved the problem.

User Manual

iLO DVDR05. iLo is Wal-Mart?s ?store brand?; the DVDR05 is actually the same as a CyberHome DVR 1600 Cyberhome and iLo are up for same, so their website has been taken down with basically a "For Sale" sign in its place. I hope that helps you a little. I will see if I can find a download of the manual for either of these branded devices.
