This laptop is very slow

Slowness in the laptop can be due to many reasons. You may upgrade your processor( to i5 or i7), but that will be too costly. Try increasing the RAM of your laptop. Also don't overflow your hard drive. Decrease in free space on your hard drive will ultimately slow down your laptop.

My Acer computer is 18 months old and now its saying I need a disc to use it as the settings need updating

Hi lexie, if your PC has a license operating system and at the control panel the automatic update is enabled, every time you access the net it will download updates in your PC and automatically install it discreetly, you may find your PC slowing down because of the updates incurred worst it will eat up your hard drive space and it will become near full. I suggest that to free some disk space there is an option in you control panel add/remove programs to uninstall updates, the other is perform disk clean up to remove unnecessary old files from your hard drive. Cheers!

1.press buttom windows+r, then %temp%, will open temp folder, delete from there files by type .tmp,

2. Open my computer, see how much free space on that partiation, where your operating system /by deafult C/.
In there must be minimum 5-6gb free space for normall work operating system. If it full transfere your files to another partion, if not another partion, burn it to dvd or cd.

could be norton slowing down your pc takes a lot of memory to run i use avg free and spybot search and destroy again a free program before you remove norton do a google search for a program called hijackthis you can check if there's any unrecognised programs running on your laptop and if there is upload the log file to forums to get help one other forum user another thing that might be slowing your computer down is having too many programs running at startup go to accessories run command prompt program and type msconfig.exe when it loads look under the startup tab and untick the boxes of programs you don't need at startup then click on apply tab reboot pc you'll get a box popping up just put a tick in the box where it says don't show this again.then reboot and see if laptop runs faster

Why is my laptop so hot and running all the time? it's only 1.5 years old?? programs are slower too.....

hello,

It is normal for hp laptop to get hot when it is running. my own hp laptop will burn my lap if i put it on my lap while running.

If your laptop is slow, free up space in the hard disk because if the hard is fill up, it can make the laptop to be slow.

If it is still slow, then the laptop is contacted with a virus. scan the system with updated anti virus and delete the virus on your laptop or you format the laptop and re run windows.

Thanks for contacting Fixya.

Sony Vaio VGN-FS980 is slow

Aside from hardware many things can slow up your PC:
  • If the C: drive is too full Windows is unable to allocate a proper virtual memory cache on the drive.
  • Your chosen anti-virus solution can even slow certain machines down (post what your running)
  • A high % of the time it is spyware/malware related
Just to make sure the machine is completely malware free you should download and run this program.
