Samung dlp problems

My samsung dlp is shutting off on its own and doing it more often... it doesn't make the normal shut off sound... it just shuts off.

I actually used to get a blinking red light on the front, any time it was on. However, it hasn't been doing that for quite some time. And now this problem occurs... are those issues connected? I will get the model number later, but it is a 50 inch I purchased about two years ago from circuit city.

Are you getting a red blinking power led? If so count the times it blinks then pauses. This is an error code which may help narrow down the circuit which is failing. Need model number also.

The lamp ballast or Color wheel might be the problem. We have experienced both issues with the tv shutting down. Also check the hours on your lamp as it might be getting old.

SAMSUNG 61" DLP, HL S6187WX keeps shutting off

Make sure there is plenty of air flow around DLP, If nothing is restricting the air flow then the fan may have a problem.
Dont use your DLP until the problem is diagnosed by a tech. Not only will you shorten the lamp life you can do unrepairable damage to the TV.
Call Samsung to see if the TV is still under warranty.

Tv shuts itself off

Look for the computer processor inside the TV. It needs to be cleaned. A can of compressed air will work. The processor is overheating and causing the tv to shut off. Look for the small fan that is supposed to keep the processor cool then remove the dust.

Good luck!

your keeping a part that is warming up and shuts down your shutdown that protects the tv from burning up... cooler... to find this you might need a hair dryer or a can of freeze mist.
I believe the left side is your high-voltage section.
you can also let it warm-up without the fan .. let it shut down and feel parts with set unplugged to see what is running hot.

PROBLEM WITH SAMSUNG DLP TV

It could be the temp sensor going bad. This sensor sits on top of the metal housing which the bulb assembly slides into. The bulb assembly will have a hole on top and this is where the sensor is above. There is a small blue and white wire that plugs into it. If you pull the wire out and put a paper clip or wire in the coupling you will basically bypass the sensor connecting the blue and white wire. If your tv turns on then that is your problem. Its cheap too. Here were my symptoms..1] Turn tv on 2] Bulb would light up..(which eliminates the ballast) regular picture would show up (which eliminates the bulb and color wheel) 3] 30 seconds later tv would shut down with 3 flashing lights. After bypass the tv turned on as always and hasnt shut down yet. Always un plug tv first. Get the replacement part to avoid overheating and possible fire
