Hi, I have a Maytag Centennial washer. We recently experienced a power surge in our home. The washer does everything it should - except cycle. Could this be the time motor? Thank you! David

depending on your washer model it is most likely in some events of a power surge that the timer knob could be damaged and need of replacement

Maytag Neptune Front-Load Washers Front Panel and Top Cover Removal

Most of the internal components of Maytag Neptune Front-Load Washers can be accessed with the removal of the front panel and lifting of the top cover. The top cover can only be lifted after the front panel is removed. Make sure that power to the machine is disconnected prior to servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock.

The first step is the removal of the four screws located vertically along the inside lip of the door opening. These screws hold the front panel to the front shroud assembly. Once the four screws are removed, grasp and press in on the upper edges of the front panel posts then twist it inward to release the clips holding it to the cabinet. Tilt the top of the front panel and move it away from the machine.

The top cover is held on each side of the cabinet by hold down brackets. Locate and remove the 5/16" hex-head screws holding each bracket then swing the bracket to the outside and unhook it from the slot in the top cover lip.

Remove the four screws securing the dispenser bezel to the top cover then lift the bezel off. Open the door then lift the front of the top cover and tilt it toward the rear of the machine.

The internal components of the machine can now be accessed. Reinstall the top cover and the front panel in reverse of the removal steps.

This procedure is also applicable to Maytag Square-Front (1998) and Sloped-Front (1999) Dryers (Maytag Neptune Dryers). The only difference is the dispenser bezel removal.

How can i lift the top of the washer to clean around the top of the tub

Hi, thanks for using FixYa.com! It depends on the model you have, but most newer style Maytag washers have a clip on each side between the front panel and the top assembly. With a putty knife, depress the clips and the top should hinge up. On older Maytags, there are 2 Phillips screws at the bottom of the front panel to remove and the front panel comes off. Once removed, there are two 3/8" bolts that secure the lid to the cabinet. Good luck...

Spin Cycle is slow

new belt or there is a thrust bearing above the drive pulley that wears out.

Maytag Atlantis top load washer started making a loud noise when on spin cycle.

The tub has its own suspension to avoid having the machine walk away from its position. The chassis normally has four suspension points and when one of these gives way, any imbalance can cause the tub to hit the inside of the cabinet. Removing the back panel of the machine and using a good light, the offending suspension part can be found by having someone rock the tub by hand.
In some machines, this suspension is nothing more than some very thick, round rubber doughnuts and are generally not hard to replace.
Any appliance parts store will be able to supply these.

Broken Spring Support - Frame has broken

I don't know, things work different with Maytag customer service over here.

The cabinet can be replaced with few hours work to reassemble the machine, the problem is that the part cost is no less than $200. See here.

Call back Maytag , get upset and complain, if the machine had not received any external damage, then this is a factory defect.
