If you have reset your garmin and it still does not work, then the problem is a hardware problem and most likely is the touch screens sensor that has gone bad. The solution to that is for you to disassemble the garmin nuvi then take out the sensor board and replace it with a another. Once that is done, then the problem will be solved.
Hope this information came in handy.
have you tried resetting the device? usually there is a small pin like hole in the back of the device. might seem stupid to ask but is it possible you muted the sound. if you contact the store you bought it from they will give you garmins number for support or you may find it online.
Reset button behind the Antenna, press this in for a few seconds.
Use the Web-updater at Garmin, to update it too,
Jack it to a PC and run the update,
If still playing up, Use the Firmware update at Garmin for it,
(( google Garmin 660 software updates ))
Should be good then
I sat on the phone for 30 minutes waiting for Garmin support when my Nuvi suddenly had no touch screen response. They had me delete a file on the device (with it hooked to my computer) then reboot and it went thru a touch screen alignment and it worked.
Sadly, it has frozen again and I don't recall the file (it had been a GCD file in all caps, that is all I know and I don't see a file in all caps any more). I will be calling support tomorrow.
My take is that it *is* a firmware thing *and* there is some way to reset the firmware.
Resetting the device merely resets the power connection, on some devices there is a reset to manufacturer defaults on settings, but not your stored data. Working with GPS's 40 hours a week I constantly have to use the reset button when they lock up. Just press it in for a few seconds then if it doesn't power back up just hit the power button and everything should be fine.
