Question about Maytag MDB9600A Jetclean II Built-in Dishwasher

MDC4650AWW Portable Dishwasher

I hear a strange noise during the wash cycle like a "grinding" . It almost sounds like something small and metal is stuck in the soft disposer and making a ratchet sound. I've run my fingers around inside (unplugged, of course) and can't find anything. It's only 6 months old and I love this appliance so I need a quick fix, if possible. Thank you.

Ours is only three months old, and although it was quiet when we got it, it too has begun making this very loud grinding noise. Last night was the worst: Many times during the washing process, the machine sounded as though it was actually screaming!

We have tried repositioning dishes on the racks and have even run it without dishes to see if it's a problem with the way we have been loadiing it, but it grinds and screams even when run empty.

We've had a similar problem. A banshee screaming noise that's makes the skin crawl. Since our machine is well out of warranty I took the insides apart and found only a few cherry pits. (Lesson learned, always scrape your dishes before loading.) We covered out ears for a few minutes and the bad, bad noise went away. But the noise came back, it didn't stay away.. So here's what I found with more tinkering.

1. Problem: Small hard things can get lodged in the food mill/grinder assembly at the bottom of the dishwasher tub. It's there to cut up the big chus of organic matter I presume.Today I found a thin piece of plastic about an 1" long that got caught and was resisting being ground(even though we know resistance is futile) by the grinder thing. Anyway, I took the offending piece out, put it back together and the machine is working fine. I have a hunch that the first instance may have been one of those stray cherry pits that broke up enough to get caught.

2. Solution: take apart inside assemblies to get down to the "foodmill" like thingie and see if there's something hard organic or unorganic causing the noise. Discard. Put back together and hope that solves it. (It did for our machine)

3. What's needed? Good knees or a decent knee pad and a few simple tools as follows:
A. 1- medium flat blade screwdriver
B. 2- TORX screwdrivers, # T-15 and T-20, or equivalent bits for a portable electric drill/screwdriver.
C. Small pair of regular pliers or simialr tool.
D. Muttering under your breath like Fred Flintstone, or not.

4. Process:
Take out the water jet assembly. It is held by a clip at the back and top. Use the screwdriver to pry the tabs away from the clips, then pull the assembly out at the bottom where it connects. It's a simple slide in/out fit. The bottom whirlygig water jet is fastened with a threaded cap that can be removed with the pliers. (BTW, this can get clogged with gunk. while you have it of check for gunk. Then, keeping track, remove the remaining hardware with the TORX #T-20 screwdriver until you get to a round black piece. The black piece has to come off before you can remove the piece with the filter and grinding screen. Use the #T-15 bit for removal of the black piece. Then remove the rest 'till you see a "blade". Hopefully in that process, whatever was causing "the noise" will fall out and you can discard it. Observe how gross it is in there, shudder, and begin the process in reverse.

I do have some pictures of the process in stages if you want. E-mail me at: gpfn47atyahoo.ca (note: please use the "@" symbol to replace the "at")
Well, that's it. I hope it helps someone.
Have a Blessed New Year!

I have a Maytag portable dishwasher that is almost 2 years old (MDC4650AWW). My problem is that is doesn't drain completely. When it tries to drain, it trickles out of the hose. In fact, most times I run it, there is about 1-2 inches of water on the bottom of the dishwasher left over so i don't feel the dishes are actually being rinsed clean. When I pull the hose in and out while it's draining, it tends to come out better. It's as if something is stuck in the hose. has anyone else had this problem and fixed it?

If this machine is only six months old diy fixing might void your warranty.

Con you check to see if the insulation over the top and sides of the dishwasher was touching the floor and wicked up enough water to get wet? That would reduce the sound dampening characteristics. It is also possible that the hose being shaken off was caused by an issued with something jamming the pump; check the drain grates to see if there is anything you can pull out.

My dishwasher is just 6 months old and started making a humming sound while washing in th wash cycle.

If you hear unusual noises during dishwasher operation, check to see if a dish or cup is loose and being knocked around during the wash cycle. If you hear grinding, grating, crunching or a buzzing sound, chances are a hard object has gone into the wash module. Once the object is ground up, the noises should cease.

Dishwasher makes grinding noise during wash cycle (after pre-wash). noise persists for 15-20 minutes. It seems as though the inlet valve doesn't open during this phase of the cycle. adding water to the...

Water-inlet valve Most cleaning problems are caused by the dishwasher not getting enough wash water, so the water-inlet valve is often to blame. This valve is usually at the bottom left or right of the dishwasher, behind the lower access panel. It's the device with the main water line from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it. When a water-inlet valve is defective, you may hear the sound that's usually referred to as "water hammer." If the water-inlet valve is defective, you need to completely replace it. Be sure to read and understand any instructions that come with the new water inlet valve.

Our Frigidaire Ultra Quiet II dishwasher loud buzzing noise- wash

No longer "ultra quiet" huh?

A sound during certain cycles indicates a broken part. By the information provided sounds like a pump may be the problem. You may need to contact a service tech about this issue. If the appliance still under warranty, the service should be provided for free.

Every time when you hear noises (other than the normal ones) in the appliance, it indicates there is something wrong and it will worsen over time, so as soon you hear something is not ok, get assistance.

Loud humming noise when dishwasher is filling up with water

your model is pretty new. just so you know your warrenty is 1 year parts and labor. 2 years on parts. it should not cost that much money.

there are two components that start before the circulation pump.(wash noise you hear)

first sounds you hear will be the drain pump. usually rattling noises if something is in it but it can make a hum noise if something is jamming the drain propeller up. which is accessible with a T20 torx driver. take the filters out and the mesh filter. and unscrew the screw in the base towards the left. pull out whatever is lodged.

the other humming sound can come from the next component that activates is the watervalve. make sure you dont have a kinked water intake line. otherwise its a bad valve. i have had to change a few of those water valves out already but not for a hum noise on your model. you have a new style water valve. when brands make new parts we get problems fast sometimes..

Diswasher motor making noise during wash cycle

It could be the impeller on the motor. The impeller fits over the shaft of the motor and might have split/broken up. That funny noise is probably the shaft spinning inside the damage impeller. Fortunately the impeler is fairly inexpensive and easy to replace. I believe there are one or two parts/covers to remove that are held in by a roughly half dozen torx screws.
