This can be caused by a number of things. Lets check the simple ones first:

1) Verify that the tape monitor switch is not ON. If it is in the monitor position, the low volume will be the "cross-talk" only and be very weak.

2) If not #1, then you likely have defective transistors in the ouitput section or have a power supply problem. With the B+ voltage mising, you will be attempting to drive the speakers with the "driver" circuit rather than the output section. This can also occur if the transistors fail "open" rather than "shorted".

Check the tape monitor switch and update this with the results. We will continue from there.

My volume is relly low even wen its at max pleasehelp

I can't figure out what you are asking. Can you rephrase your question? What operating system are you using, Win7? If so, try right-clicking on the "speaker" icon found in the system tray (lower right hand side of screen) and select 'Open Volume Mixer' option. Make sure all settings are not set to minimum. It could be another config setting. Explore other options under the "speaker" icon.
Good Luck.

The unit thinks there are headphone plugged in even when there are not. You need to have the headphone jack replaced. This is a common problem with this model. Another way to fix it if you don't plan on using the headphone jack is to unplug the cable going to the headphone jack board. This will disable the headphone jack, and stop it from sending an erroneous signal to the micro.

Panasonic RP HT711 headphones.

There could be several reasons why your Panasonic RP HT711 headphones are not working properly with your laptop and TV. Here are some things you can try:
  1. Check the connections: Make sure that the headphone jack is fully inserted into the laptop or TV. If it's not fully inserted, you may not get any sound or the sound may be very low.
  2. Check the volume levels: Make sure that the volume on your laptop or TV is turned up and not muted. You can also try adjusting the volume on the headphones themselves to see if that makes a difference.
  3. Test the headphones on another device: Try testing the headphones on another device, such as a phone or tablet, to see if they work properly. If they work fine on another device, then the issue may be with your laptop or TV.
  4. Update drivers: If you're using the headphones with a laptop, make sure that you have the latest audio drivers installed. You can check the manufacturer's website for the latest drivers and installation instructions.
  5. Try a different cable: If you're using a cable to connect the headphones to the laptop or TV, try using a different cable to see if that solves the problem.
If none of these solutions work, then it's possible that there is a problem with the headphones themselves and they may need to be repaired or replaced.

Hi,

The audiolevel is much to low for a headphone.
You really need to use a headphoneoutput ( if its there) or a headphoneamplifier.
You tried to connect your headphone on line-level outputs.

The volume on my SX-790 is very low, even when it's turned all the way up. I tried it with headphones and speakers and its the same volume level.

Lets try the simple stuff first: Verify that the tape monitor is not on. If it is not, then the problem is likely a faulty power supply that is not powering the final amplification stage. With units of this vintage, this could be as simple as poor solder connections at the voltage regulators. I doubt that the output transistors are faulty, so a repair for this problem is likely to be relatively inexpensive. At most, parts will likely run about $5 or so.

Sound is low

try to see if the wave volume is on and maximum on the volume panel ( double click on vol icon on tray system (right low) ) ...also see if your speakers are plugged into the proper place ...and are not in the auxiliary out or something like this ...they should be plugged into the green middle out ...if they are simple stereo 3,2 jack ...so ..if the problem its still on ..its probably the sound card...(actually the pre-amplifier on it ..)
