I have the same problem and also thought that something i.e. paper clips etc had gone dowm the back.

Our techy team here say that one of the rollers has been dammaged and they do not have much hope of a fix.

shame when it is such a good machine otherwise.

When printing only one side pulls and causes a paper jam. Any suggestions?

  • srush Nov 15, 2008

Paper won't feel properly. It pulls to one side, jamming then paper inside. Since others have the same problem, it seems like a possible design/manufacturing defect.

My printer was doing all of the above to me for about a week I didn't see it at first, it was printing and then jamming ripping the paper in the center and then only feeding through one side, it turned out that there was a pen jammed in the back of it where you cannot see, I had to sit the printer on its face or on the front and use a flash light to see it, then came the problem of getting it out where it was located your hand can't fit, so it is a possibility that there is something there you just have to really look, if this is not the case then the best thing to do if under warranty is to contact epson and have them fix it, if not take it to best buy, compusa cirsuit city, or geek squad and see if they can fix it for you.

Paper not feeding for epson nx400

Check the following:

  • If paper doesn't feed, remove it from the sheet feeder. Reload it against the right side, behind the tab, then press in the tab on the edge guide and slide it against the paper. Make sure the paper is not above the arrow mark inside the edge guide.

  • If multiple pages feed at once, remove the paper from the sheet feeder, fan the edges to separate the sheets, then reload it.

  • If the paper doesn't eject fully, you may have set the wrong paper size. Press the c:\users\home\appdata\local\temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image001.gif Stop button, then open the scanner and remove the paper. Select the correct paper size when you reprint.

  • If it's wrinkled when it ejects, the paper may be damp or too thin. Load new paper.

  • Make sure you use new, smooth, high-quality paper, that is not curled, creased, old, or too thin. Make sure to load it printable side up.

  • Do not load paper with holes punched in it for insertion in a binder.

  • Make sure you load only up to the recommended number of sheets. If you're printing on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.

If the paper jams, do the following:

1. Gently pull any jammed paper out from the output tray or sheet feeder.

2. To eject the jammed paper, try turning the Epson Stylus NX400 off and then back on.

If that doesn't work and paper is stuck inside, turn off the Epson Stylus NX400. Open the scanner, remove the jammed paper and torn pieces, close the scanner, and turn the Epson Stylus NX400 back on.

The printer reports a paper jam because the paper feed system cannot feed paper.

Look down into the place where the paper goes (the "automatic sheet feeder" or ASF) and you should see a fat wheel with a grey ribbed rubber facing. Place a single sheet of paper in the ASF and do a test print (right click the printer icon and select properties). Watch to see what happens in the ASF. The plastic panel behind the sheet of paper should move forward to push the sheet against the rotating rubber wheel, which should then feed the paper into the print position. This is presumably not happening! Can you what does happen?

If the expected movements are not happening, you need to remove the printer top cover to see what the problem is and resolve it - perhaps the ASF has come loose or something. This is easy if you know how to do it - otherwise it's likely to cause you to take a large hammer to the task! If you need help on this, please report back with a new post.

Always Paper Jam in Epson Stylus CX3500

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

If you already have tried reseating all of the inks and and inks are still not recognized, Please contact Epson tech support for a replacement ink or if they find out after some diagnostics that it is the printer that is having an issue they would be replacing your printer.

Epson Stylus CX4600

If all of the lights on the control panel are flashing and you see the letter E in the Copy window, the print head may not be able to move back and forth freely. Follow these steps:
  1. Turn off the Stylus CX.

  2. Open the scanner.

  3. Remove any jammed paper or other obstructions from the paper path.

  4. Carefully lower the scanner.

  5. Turn the Stylus CX back on.
alert_note.gif Note: If you can't remove the paper or foreign object yourself, do not use force and do not disassemble the Stylus CX.

And the last thing you could do, is to check if the rod where your carriage slide is dry...if so put a little bit of oil on it
