Is you water to your bath tub on the same water line as your diswasher if so both cant get water at the same time, and mabey you are useing to much water for it not to work, if you still have questions call a plumber

Dishwasher stops working a few minutes after being started

Make sure the water is turned on to the unit first--next, is there water entering the tub? Check the float switch--the round, plastic, "flying saucer" shaped object at the bottom of the tub. Gently lift up on it and carefully listen for a very soft "click" sound. That is the tiny switch underneath working. If something gets trapped under the float switch, the washer won't fill with water. Next, if water is indeed in the tub, did you hear the motor pump running? If it runs and then stops, there might be a problem with the control board--check to see if the drain pump works properly--cancel the cycle and listen for the drain pump turning on and draining out all the water. On almost all dishwashers, at the start of a cycle, the drain pump will turn on briefly to pump out any standing water left in the motor base(you can't see the water but it's there) so it doesn't get sprayed onto your dishes. Then, fresh, hot water enters the tub, when the water level reaches the proper level, the float switch rises, tells the computer enough water is present, then starts the main pump. If the water is not being drained out, try to listen for the drain motor humming. If it is running but not draining, it is probably jammed with food or other debris and must be cleared. If the water is turned on but no water is entering the tub, check the inlet water valve underneath the washer--the water line is connected directly to it. It is electrical and operates on 120v. You will need to carefully disconnect the connector from the valve, activate a cycle, and using a voltage meter, check to see if 120 volts is present. If it is there and no water is entering, most likely the valve is bad. If there is no voltage at the valve, either a wire is broken or the main board is defective.

We just installed a new kenmore dishwasher yesterday. Model 13242 It has been running for almost2 hours and is still on the washing cycle--no water in it however--is this normal? I'm in a bit of a panic as...

THAT IS NOT NORMAL!!!!!!! A normal wash and dry cycle will take approx. 2 hours in length including drying cycle.
You should see that water has been present in the machine within the first 2 minutes of the start of the wash cycle, you should also be able to hear the water entering the wash tub.
The fill valve or water supply seems to be the issue, if the water doesn't enter the tub then the controller won't proceed witht the wash cycle. Double check your water supply tube / hose to make sure there is water present at the connection to the dishwasher.
GOOD LUCK !

I can hear water entering the tub but not washing. Then I hear the water draining what can I do

Remove the two 1/4 nuts that hold the kickplate at the bottom of the dishwasher, and ensure that the wash motor hasn't come unplugged. Normally, if the motor is faulty, you'll still hear a humming, so it's possible that it's just unplugged

Kitchenaid dishwasher will not fill. Water does

First make sure your water inlet isn't plugged, then check that your solenoid is opening fully, unless this is an old model and you have calcium buildup throughout the machines plumbing I'd bet a new solenoid will fix you right up.

Machine makes proper starting noises, but water does not pump into machine to start up the washing process. What may be the problem?

Hello,

Check the overflow float to make sure it isn`t stuck in the ``up`` position causing the dishwasher to go into a constant drain mode, hence not allowing water to enter the tub. The float will be in the tub to the right at the front by the door. It is possible the switch attached to the float has become undone from it`s bracket under the unit as well, but that is less likely. You`d have to remove the toe panel/kick plate to inspect it. **Turn your breaker off if you do so.**

Either that or the inlet water valve is faulty and you`ll need to replace it.

Hope that help`s, good luck.

GE Natulus will not fill with water

Had the same problem with ours today. That's why I got on here. My dad used a gallon jug to prime it with a gallon of hot tap water. We primed it to get it pumping, and now it is working fine. Just pour the hot water into the dishwasher and start it.

Brand New GE Dishwasher quit on me

when a dishwasher first starts the pump kicks in for a few seconds before the timer starts the programme, then it should fill up etc, all you can do is confirm again the water supply is actually flowing to the machine, then call out the engineer under guarantee if this was or is not under guarantee, check the water solenoid valve for being open circuit (does it buzz when switched on) no, then faulty, yes then no water there / hope i have helped if so please rate me, thank you, please work safe

Indesit D41 dishwasher problem

you need to check the inlet walve . when you start the unit you say it drains. so after the drain do you hear the water entering the dishwasher? If you hear a sound like a buzzing noise that would be the inlet valve working. if thats the case there is a clog at the screen in the valve not allowing the water or enough water in the tub. seeing that this is a portable unit you will also want to check to make sure the fill hose is not kinked up anywhere in the cabinet or under neath the dishwasher. If you hear no buzzing noise you need to check the inlet valve with a meter to first make sure your getting power to it and that the valve itself if good. check these things out and let me know what you found and we can go from there
