You may manually configure your Belkin router. Make sure that the
computer is connected to the ethernet port (gray) of the router. Then
the modem is connected to the WAN port (yellow) of the router.
On your computer's browser, type: 192.168.2.1
It will prompt you for your password. By default, just leave the password field blank.
Once
in the setup page of the router, go to Internet/WAN tab. Under
connection type, you need to select the type of your connection
depending on your ISP. If you are not sure, contact your ISP and ask
them if they use PPPoE (you will also need the username and password
for your connection) or DHCP, Static, etc.
Then next and then apply changes. Once the router has the correct settings from your ISP, you should be able to get online.
For
the wireless settings, just go to Wireless in the setup page and you
may change your settings like enabling wireless security.
I hope this helps!

disable all firewalls in the computer first(windows and any 3rd party firewall)....then install the router...also disable any software that prevents you from performing any task.... basically for router you need not install any software...all that you need to do is connect the cable coming from the modem to the "wan" port(yellow coloured port) of the router... and connect your computer to any one of the grey coloured(wired) ports of the router... then type 192.168.2.1 in internet explorer and configure your router according to the ISP...the connection type would be dynamic in most of the cases for cable modem/dsl modem....
