Question about Dell E173FP 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Dell E178FPf LCD monitor goes to standby and won`t come on again

My DELL E176FPf LCD monitor goes to standby and will not fire up again unless i remove it from the main electric and reconnect it works perfectly when it is on .

If i leave it for about ten minutes with no activity it will go to standby and although the screen is black the back light appears to be on.

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated as I am a pensioner and money is tight.
Many thanks Robert

Check your Power options in Windows.

right click on the desktop. select properties, Gop to the screen saver tab, click on the power button at the bottom right and check to see if its set to turn off or standby the monitor, turn this off.

Keep the screen saver on and set it for like ten minutes.

Also, on the monitor itself, it may have a sleep or power save option set as the default. check all the monitor settings on the actual moniotr itself.

Hello

Probably the monitor. LCD monitors use electrolytic capactors which change value with heat. The power board in yours probably has 6 to 8 caps whic need replacement. Take it to a reputable repair person or check out my websit.

Dell SE198WFP 19" LCD won't come out of standby

I went into the BIOS (with F2 during restart) and changed a value -- IIRC it was called something like "power management scheme" -- from the default S3 to the other choice, S1. Now the old Dell XP Dimension 2350 will go into and out of Standby correctly and the new SE198WFP 19" LCD will too.

Monitor stuck in standby

Try tapping F8 when booting and then choose 'safe mode with networking'
if this works go to the lcd manufactures web site and look for a specific driver for your screen.

My monitor screen goes black

The monitor is going bad. Either going to be a bad screen or a bad inverter. Also Since you tried it on another computer and its still giving you the same symptoms, you know the computers are fine. To be sure, try another monitor on your computer and if you get video on the new monitor then thats another way of verifying that the dell monitor is bad.

Acer x223w issues- freezes

I think it could be an issue with resolution. Since the monitor is so big, some video cards, I noticed, can't support the high resolutions that the monitor can, if that doesn't work try 16-bit instead of 32-bit.

The inverter power logic is probably going bad. You can get it here as well as look at instructional videos on DELL monitors.
