It sounds like one of the hindge/wheels are off set. Most of the time that can also cause the lazer lense not to come up all the way in order to properly read the disc. When you keep the door open and press start does it allow the lazer lense to come up all the way? That is the small circle glass peice you will see when you look in--some you can see it some you cant.

Let me know.

Thanks.

    Yeah I had the same issue with one of my DVD players as well. The thing is that I had to pick it up in order for it to work properly..for a while. Otherwise this is something a repair store can fix for your and not something I'd recommend doing unless you have worked or fixed some electronics before. They normally can fix it simply or it might be a bit more elaborate. Some places will take a look at it for free and then you can determine if you want it worked on or not..so an estimate. But otherwise there isn't any other simple fix for this at it needs everything opened in order to operate on the insides.

Either the loadimg belt, or the gear wheels might have the fault. Replace the loading belt first, if your are handy.

The disc tray does not eject when the OPEN/CLOSE button is pressed. Solution
sp.gif sp.gif Follow the steps below to troubleshoot this issue.
    IMPORTANT: The disc tray will not open while a disc is loading; this is normal operation. If this is the case, wait until the disc is finished loading before pressing the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray.
  1. Make sure the disc tray is not locked; if necessary,
  2. Perform a power reset.
    1. Press and hold the POWER button for 10 seconds until the BD player turns off.
    2. After the BD player turns off, press the POWER button again to turn it back on.
  3. Attempt to open the disc tray by pressing the OPEN/CLOSE button on the front of the BD player.
  4. If the disc tray still does not open and a disc is stuck inside, follow the steps below to force the disc tray to eject:
    1. Turn off the BD player.
    2. Turn the BD player back on.
    3. Immediately after POWER ON is displayed, press the STOP button on the front of the player. IMPORTANT: Only use the STOP button on the front of the BD player. The remote control cannot be used for this operation.
      NOTES:
      • The disc tray should eject and the BD player will turn off. If it does not eject, repeat steps A-C.
      • It may be necessary to press the STOP button in step C two or three times.
If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required

Error reading any dvd disks

Have you tried a DVD+/-RW ?

The noises that you are hearing will be the spindle motor trying to spin the DVD as the lifting presentation tray for the read/write head has not located, if the media is not spinning this will never be able to read the lead in on any DVD as it has not presented the disc in the correct place.

If is is out of guarantee then I suggest that you check to see if the DVD is spinning by removing the top cover with the power OFF then eject the tray and try to load the media a small touch of the DVD in the clockwise motion should cause the media to start spinning, this is for diagnosis only if this is the case then the spindle motor will need changing

Error code HO2 appears after inserting dvd panosonic NV-VP30EB

Hi,

To my knowledge, most H02 errors on a Panasonic DVD player would indicate a spindle error, that is the central motor that spins the disc. Normally, this would require an in-shop repair as electronics is involved, however, you could still try:
  • close the tray with no disc inside;
  • press on the back skip, pause, and play buttons simultaneously and hold for about 4 seconds;
  • when the screen blanks and then "initializing" appears, release the buttons.
Alternately, you can try:
  • remove the top cover;
  • clean the spindle motor with compressed air;
  • manually turn the spindle counter clockwise and then clockwise numerous times to exercise the motor;
  • power on the player, insert a disc and manually assist the disc to start turning.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

DISK WILL NOT SPIN

The problem is in Slider mechanism,that can't switch on the Servo control circuit, that's stock up ,due to accumulated dust and dirt that's hardened the grease,it's need to clean and change the old grease. First thing you want to see if the unit’s laser is in good working order. This method isn’t foolproof, but most of the time works admirably. When you insert a disc, see if you can look up underneath where the disc sits on the turntable. Observe the laser lens going up and down. If the lens is trying to focus, that’s good! After a few seconds of the lens trying to focus, the platter should start to spin. On almost every CD/DVD unit I've encountered, the unit won't spin unless the laser has properly focused on the surface of the disc.
f the unit spins up and and then shuts down, you should check and make sure the laser pick-up assembly slider mechanism is working without any obstructions and that the small chrome rail that it slides on is slightly greased. Don’t go overboard with the grease though, as too much can cause all sorts of problems.
The slider mechanism, depending on the age of the unit and the manufacturer, consists of the small chrome rail, a drive motor, a small gear assembly, and (in some units) a small belt that drives the slider unit via the motor. This small belt causes all sorts of problems. If the belt is broken or slipping, it can cause skipping, dropouts, or simply no start up at all. Also, if the belt breaks in the middle of the disc, the drive mechanism gets hair or dirt wrapped up into the gears, or the pick-up assembly doesn’t return to the start position (called home), the unit will (99% of the time) refuse to release the disc, causing it to become stuck inside the unit. There’s a little micro or leaf type switch located at home position that sometimes gets dirty or breaks and, causing this problem also.
If the disc starts to spin slowly and doesn’t come up to speed, the spindle motor that’s attached to the turntable platter is a common problem. There could also be a problem with the spindle motor driver controller IC or the power supply regulator that supplies voltage to the driver IC. If the disc starts to spin and then spins really fast, or stops and starts to spin backwards, your problem is the laser pick-up assembly or the servo control circuit.
Also, in a DVD/CD player there are many complaints where the disc gets stuck inside of the unit. This could be as described earlier, but there’s also what’s called a drawer/disc tray opener and closer mechanism to contend with. On many models, old and new alike, there’s a small belt that goes bad and wont let the tray open. You can usually put your ear very close to the front of the unit and, if this is happening, hear the motor spinning when you press the eject button. Another cause is the nylon gears, which can get jammed up with dirt and dust. Also, in other cases, you could have a motor problem, or the driver IC could be at fault. If you suspect that the motor is at fault, simply measure the voltage on the tray motor while pressing on the eject button. If the voltage comes up between 6 to 12 volts, depending on the manufacturer, then the motor needs to be replaced
