NO, but its better then being broken, and hitachi does have its own set of issue, but if new you wont see those issues for at least 3 years.

TV screen Repair

Good luck trying to find one used. This model was first produced and sold in 2006 and is one of the last projection sets Hitachi made.

Part number for the screen unit is: UX26082 and retails for 251.38 not counting shipping etc.

Replacement requires removing the entire front screen with the plastic frame it is mounted into.

It consists of three separate parts--outer or clear protective screen and the two inner ones and all three are only sold as a complete unit.

You have the part number and if you Google it may find some vendors on the internet who have it.

Let me know if I can be of help.

I have a kp57hw40 sony tv and the scren it flashs

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

No picture from Blu-ray

If the TV works fine with other sources the problem is the HDMI output is not enabled on the BD player.
Most BD players do not output both HDMI and composite formats simultaneously. Check to make sure the HDMI output is selected on the BD player and the TV. This information is in the manuals, read the book.
