We are having the same problem. I can hear it dial, but when the receiver fax picks up, there is no signal from the Lexmark to let the receiver know that we are sending. All we need is one stupid "BEEP"! So much for plug-and-play.

Lexmark drivers dont include fax and ocr--need software for fax on lexmark x7170

Hello. The fax and scan software can only be installed using the the installation cd that came with the printer. The file sizes are big , especially for the scan software, that's why they're not available for download online. If you lost/misplaced the installation cd, I would advise you to call Lexmark. They might send you one for free. Hope I can help you more with that.

Trying to get Brother MFC-240c fax to work with VOIP modem

I also went to the Brother site, and for the newer model MFC-250c there is a totally different set of troubleshooting steps. I would say for this model, you are probably out-of-luck. The FAQ for that problem was written back in 2006, and if that's the age of the printer it's probably simply not compatible. I'm sorry.
I would suggest that if that's the only issue you are having with the printer and receiving faxes is more important than sending, your best bet is to do it virtually. I have a virtual 866# that I use for my business, but you can also have a local #. Your faxes will come directly into your email inbox, and then if you needed to print them, it would be like printing anything else. To send, the provider you use for the phone # (I use RingCentral and love it!) should have some software that allows you to send the fax directly from your computer. If you don't want a package deal like that,(because it would replace your current VOIP) then you can also use a website called TrustFax. I used them successfully for years. Very accurate. At worst, you would have to scan-in the document first and save it in order to send from your computer. Yes, it's a monthly fee for a service, and Trustfax is yearly for a particular # of faxes at x cents-per-fax, and then you can add credit if you go over. You could also save-up for a new printer! I use the Canon MP830, myself. If you do the above, you won't have to worry about your fax picking-up seperate. It's all digital and you'll get it in your email. Also, you can get another number from the VOIP provider that you just use for faxing. Remember, VOIP goes through your internet, so you could theoretically have any # of 'lines' to call and no wiring for any of them! It all plugs-into the same equipment for your first line. Nothing extra needed.
Can't help you with the DVR problem, unfortunately. Don't live in your area. If it's any consolation, it's universal depending on the brand. I would see if you can find out who actually manufactures it and if that's the only model they carry. I had HD service and actually traded in the 'new' model for the old one because the newer DVR's they were giving out were *terrible*.

Error code 2200

You need to clean NVRAM on Lexmark X7170 printer. Please find below the steps to clear the NVRAM on the Lexmark X7170:

1. Press the 'Quality' button and the '9' button at the same time.
2. Press '1,2,3' in succession per the LCD.
Note: This will delete all user settings including the speed dial list.

Next try to make a coy on the printer itself and let us know the result.

No answer when sending fax

The receiving fax machine never answered. Maybe their fax machine is set to MANUAL or is disconnected.

It's not your fax machine that's the problem.

Can't Send or Receive Faxes from MFC-7820 N

You may not need a separate fax line from Vonage. If you don't need a dedicated fax line, you can try changing the "Bandwidth Saver" settings on your Vonage voice line from your account on the Vonage website. Perform the following:

1. Login to your Vonage account online and click the "Features" tab.
2. Scroll down to the "Bandwidth Saver" link and click on the "Configure" button.
3. You will see a scrollbar with 3 settings: 30kbps, 50kbps and 90kbps

NOTE: My "Saver" was set to 90kbps (Highest Sound Quality) by default.

4. Click on 30kbps (Normal) and click "Submit".
5. Wait about an hour before testing as it could take that long for the change to take effect.
6. Send a test fax to the HP fax test service at 1-888-hpfaxme (1-888-473-2963).

NOTE: This is a GREAT service provided by HP. If your fax goes through correctly, you will receive a return fax within five minutes.

We upgraded to Verizon FiOS and never thought the increased upload speed (4mbps) would present an issue sending faxes. WRONG. We never had fax issues with DSL, Comcast or even Broadstripe VOIP service but for some reason Vonage + FiOS = no fax. That is until we set our Vonage VOIP sound quality to "Normal". Our phone voice quality has been much more reliable since throttling back. This sentiment has also been shared by other Vonage users who have experienced echoing and noise when utilizing the higher quality settings.

Your phone coversations may not have FM quality sound but they will have AM quality and usually that is just fine.

If your fax machine has a Telephone Answering Device (TAD) setting, you can share your voice line with your fax machine and be able to receive faxes and voice messages. Hopefully this will work for you.

Error 350

Error 350 means...
The remote machine has failed to respond to a fax command from the local machine due to the connection being interrupted. These errors can occur if the phone lines in the area to be faxed are old or there is noise (static on the phone line). Other reasons can include power outages and other power related problems.
OR
The call waiting service can cause this error. The click, heard for an incoming call, is actually a momentary disconnect of the line.
OR
The remote user has pressed the Stop key while the reception was in progress.
OR
Under rare conditions incompatibility between the two machines may cause the remote machine to simply abandon the call.

Try this solution...
*Re-attempt the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve.
*Disable ECM. Errors may still occur, and may result in a degraded image quality on the received page. However, the ability to transmit the entire document will be improved. (To turn off the ECM, simply press the setup button on the pritner, use the right arrow and select advance fax setup on the options. Press ok under advance fax setup. Use the right arrow and select Error Correction Mode. Press ok and select Off.)
*Try sending at a lower transmission speed. (To lower the transmission speed. Press the setup button, go to advance fax setup. under advance fax setup, look for Fax speed. change the fax speed to slow)

After you have done the T/S, try sending a fax again.
Hope this would resolved your issue.

3150 fax machine outputs a blank page when my fax sends to it

(05) Would you, please, SEND a fax from the machine that blank faxes are being received from to a different recipient on a different fax machine all together, please?

This will enable us to pin down which machine is really experiencing the issue.

Thank you

Sending Faxes

When the last page of your document has been sent successfully, the machine beeps and returns to Standby mode. When something goes wrong while sending your fax, an error message appears on the display. If you receive an error message, press Stop/Clear to clear the message and try to send the document again. You can set your machine to print a confirmation report automatically each time sending a fax is completed. If you get the error message write it down it should always supply an error message if the fax did not go through.
