The remote stopped working. I changed the batteries and it still won't work. When I pushed the TV button, it blinked on and off for a long time and now the entire unit seems "dead". This seems to be a consistent problem that the manufacturerer should know about.

My akai remote just stop working. I thought the batteries needed to be replaced but that still did not work. The remote is obsolete. How can I get another remote control? I still have warranty. I guess I can mail in the old remote control and the company could mail me another functional remote.

You have to verify if you didn't put the parental lock, this option block your remote ;)

The above solution was not at all helpful. You have to reset the remote. Press and hold the SET button for 3 seconds. Then type in 991. That's it. Your remote is back to factory default.

This was extremely helpful!!! I had dropped my remote one time too many. I had to press the set button longer, until red light came on remote. Then pressed 991 and presto! No more gettin on the knees to change channels. Thank you so much Pete and fixya.com

My remote control does not start my TV Akai 42"

Try new batteries. Remote could be suffering "Pepsi syndrome". Open up remote, look for sticky residue on pc board. Look for bad connections on transmitter LED.

I've changed the batteries in my Philips Universal Remote and I still cannot get it to change. What should I do?

heres a handy little trick to determine whether your remote control is working. Get hold of a radio and switch it to AM band receive (any frequency). Hold the remote control near to the aerial and press any of the buttons..you should hear a squeeling noise from the radio. This proves that the remote control is working and that the TV is at fault. If you dont hear any noise from the radio, your remote control is faulty and you can obtain a new remote from the link below.

http://www.espares.co.uk/search/remote-controls/philips/p/1090/128?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=philips%2Bremotes&utm_campaign=Remote%2BControls

If you hear squeeling from the radio during the remote control test, then the TV infra red receiver board is faulty, and is located behind the small clear glass lense on the front bottom front casing of the TV. Hope this helped :)

Akai KC02-E1 Remote with new batteries stopped working.

First, You cannot resync the remote, Second the IR sensor may be bad on the tv and third, the Digital bd may be bad. The IR sensor connects directly to the Digital bd which is the brains of the tv. Also, there maybe a stuck button on the remote or the buttons on the tv.

Parental code

To reset this condition usually requires a visit to the repair shop. To clear the parental control from the AKAI brand sets, you must enter the "Service" mode of the television. WARNING: There ARE adjustments in the service menu that CAN destroy your television if improperly adjusted.

This should not matter to you as long as you are simply reseting the parental lock function.

You must have the ORIGINAL FACTORY remote. (The one that came with the television when it was new.)

With the remote press the following one at a time in order:

MUTE - 1 - 8 - 2 - POWER.

Now you should be in the service menu where you should see RESET. Select reset and enter. Turn off TV.

Your done. When you turn your set back on, the code should be cleared.
