I just bought a second hand Meade 114 EQ-DH4. The computer control components look like they have never been used. I put in new batteries and the computer works fine. When I there is input given to the motors one moves some and then seems to die and the other barely moves at all. The motors act like there's barely any power getting to them. Any suggestions?

You can control a Meade scope using several different planetarium programs if you have the correct Meade cable.
Stellarium, and Cartes du Ciel both can control the scope. If you have a real serial port on your computer you can use the Meade cable and plug in to the bottom of the hand controller.
If your computer does not have serial ports then you must buy a USB to Serial adapter cable. Keyspan is a good brand.
The first thing I would do is get another new hand controller cable. These can be ordered from Meade, or from a local dealer, or from www.scopestuff.com.
If a new cable does not help-- I would locate another Hand controller just to test if the controller has gone bad.
You can also try reinstalling the firmware into the hand controller, using the Meade version 5.9 updater software. You will need the proper computer cable between the computer and the hand controller to update the firmware.
First go to Meade's manual web site -- look under the REFLECTOR heading and download a manual. Here: http://www.meade.com/manuals/index.html
Second-- It's NOT ASTROLOGY! It's Astronomy!
Astrology is completely fake and superstitious belief that the planets and stars affect your life!
The MIRROR is on the bottom of the telescope- this is called a REFLECTOR style telescope. The focuser is on the TOP (side) of the telescope. Make sure the focuser end is UP and the mirror is on the bottom pointed toward the GROUND.
