Hi, my 25inch Sanyo tv, color is fading the picture looks blury and there are horizontal lines that are going across the screen. I only had the tv for 2 1/2 years, can you tell me what the problem is and if I need to save some money to buy another tv before this one goes completely out?

Re: 25 inch sanyo tv
If the horizontal lines going through the picture are fine white lines, then I would suspect the picture tube as having a heater to cathode short or some other problem. Since some sets have had a 3 year warranty on the picture tube, you may be lucky unless the labor to replace the tube is more than the set is worth. Sanyo is usually not a good name in consumer electronics anymore, so if you're looking for a replacement I would look elsewhere.

yes it can be fixed. it needs replacement of a component that heats up and often due to heat it loses solid welded connection, if welded properly it returns back to normal, if not it needs replacement with substitute or comparable capacitor item removed Id codes on it
You have a failure in the vertical deflection circuit. This could be either a bad vertical chip, the power supply that runs the chip or a bad capacitor in that circuit. This is usually a repair best left to a professional. There is a small possibility that it could be bad solder connections. If genlty tapping the unit temporarily solves the issue you can try and resolder the pins on the vertical chip LA7841 is the part number. There is also a resistor 1 ohm 1 watt. If that resistor is open you can assume the IC is bad
Check for cold or crystalized solder joints on the board that is connected to the CRT.
I would also check the solder joints around the high power resistors near or around the horizontal section.
this symptom, sometimes called the tube light effect, it is characterised by a bright thin horizontal line across the middle of the screen. this symptom is caused by a breakdown in the vertical deflection circuit. hence maybe the trouble maybe in the vertical oscillator, amplifier or output circuits. but if all i have said is not clear to you, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!
