Acer Aspire 5315 - Help

My son was given this laptop for Christmas and my husband is the administrator. Here's the problem, we gave our daughter the password to set up a dvd, later on (days) my son was "prompted" to change to the password. So he did. My husband went on later on to log-on and change the password AND you guessed it. Wrong password, the problem is my son can't quite remember the password! Is there anyway to correct this?

Thanking you in advance for any assistance!

You need to download Hirum's Boot CD and burn the image onto a disk. Once you have the CD restart you computer and boot from the CD.
Once booted into the CD navigate your way through the menus and start up Active Password Recovery.
With the program search the MS SAM databases on your computer. Then, select the user who's password you wish to change.
The reset password option should already be selected, so all you have to do is just select apply.
Once you complete that the password is reset and you are able to boot into the operating system under that user without a password.

This fix will work for all versions of Windows including Vista.

It depends on what operating system your using, if it's windows XP then you should be able to press 'control' 'alt' and 'delete' twice when it comes up with the logon screen. This will then give you the option to log into an account called administrator. This will either have no password, or have the same password that you originally used to setup the account. From here you should be able to either change the password of the other account or, create a new account.
Failing that you can hang your son upside down from a window untill he remembers.

How 2 factory reset an acer aspire 5315 laptop

There are two basic ways to restore Acer 5315 PC Notebook to the original setting. The first method you can try to pressing the key Alt + F10 for 5 times while startup process appears on the Acer screen. Usually this way will restore the original setting automatically.
And the next method you may need to use system restore at the first time you’ve got your Acer 5315 laptop. Here are steps to follow:
Log on as the Administrator => Start => All Programs => Accessories => System Tools => and click the System Restore. System restore will run and here you should see the Welcome System Restore page appear. Click Restore my computer button to an early time if it’s not already
selected. Click next to continue the steps.
There is on your Acer 5315 laptop screen a Restore Point page appear, you can select it and then click the most recent system checkpoint it, click a restore point list. After you click the Next button, System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that
System Restore will create. Click OK.
For the last step click next button on the Confirm Restore Point Selection page. Now the ‘System Restore’ will restore the previous Windows XP configuration on your Acer 5315 OS system. Just finish it by restarts your Acer laptop.
Now log on again to your Acer 5315 PC Notebook as Administrator and watch the System Restore Restoration Complete page appears. Click OK.

Cracked lcd sct reen acer aspire 5315 model

I would start by doing a search on Ebay. Often times you can get parts or a damaged laptop with parts for a very reasonable price. I just did a search for your laptop model and found a damaged Acer Aspire 5315 for $81. As of this posting on 10/31 at 9:10 am CST time, the auction ends in 2 hrs.

After doing a quick internet search, I found a web site called http://www.screencountry.com and I saw a monitor for your model listed at $99.

Acer laptop 5315. While using the laptop it just

this laptop is cleverly designed, it is most probably the daughter board. this is where you connect you ac adapter. the daughter board or power board, eliminate the need for you to replace the whole motherboard when the connector is damaged. all you need to do is replace the power board. if this does not fix the issue, then there is a likely hood that you need to replace the motherboard

but before you attempt the above, first check if the ac adapter is not the problem
