I need a wep code for an Actiontec GT704-WG. Trying to setup internet connection for wii and the code that is on on the modem does not work .

Here is a setup guide to help you get the wep key. Please try the following troubleshooting: Are you using WEP or WPA security on your router? Log into the router using the default IP (consult your router's manual for assistance) Locate the "wireless security" section of your router settings and find the WEP or WPA key. If you are using 64-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be a 10-character key consisting of numbers or letters A through F. If you are using 128-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be a 26-character key consisting of numbers or letters A through F. The WEP Key must be a Hexadecimal (0-9, A-F, no other special characters or letters). If your router has multiple slots for a WEP Key, make sure the active key is the one in the #1 slot. If you are using WPA, the Wii console is compatible with the following types: WPA - PSK (TKIP) WPA - PSK (AES) WPA2 - PSK (AES)
If your WEP or WPA key is correct, then the problem might be related to MAC address filtering: From the router settings, locate the "MAC address filter" settings (also known as "access control", "access list", or "network filter" depending on your router model). If the Mac address filter is set to "enabled", then you must add the Wii's MAC address to the "allowed" list. You can locate the Wii's MAC address from the "console information" page (located under "Internet" in the Wii Settings). If the Mac address filter was disabled, then continue troubleshooting.

Check Nintendo's router info for special notes, if available, for your router. Click here to go to our Wireless Router lookup page. Use the drop-down box to select, if available, your router manufacturer. Click on your router's model number, if available. Read any "special notes" at the top of the router's page. Many issues can be solved by changing settings described in the "special notes."

Try a "Manual Setup" with the Wii console (how to), using your network's IP configuration settings. To access these settings: On your PC, click "Start" and then "Run." Type "CMD" into the field that appears to open a new window. Type "IPCONFIG/ALL" and press "Enter" to display a list of internet settings. Locate the settings asked for by the Wii console during the Manual Setup process and enter them.

Power cycle your router and modem by unplugging them both from the wall. Wait a few minutes, and plug the modem back in. Wait a couple of minutes for the modem to initialize, then turn on the router. You simply access the router's setup page by going to Internet Explorer and type http://192.18.1.1 it will prompt your for password, try admin by default. You can change the security key under the wireless tab and look for wireless security

How can I get my WEP key from the router?

You will need to "dial in" to your router. Type 192.168.1.1 into your browser (or obtain this from youir manual). Log in and locate the security section. Note the word used to generate the wep key. Also note what number key you used. Both the security word and the wep key should be visible for you to make a note of for further connections.

Need to find existing WEP ID, do not want to reset my WEP ID

Flip over your ACTIONTEC and you would see there the default wep key. If you've had it personalized before, you have to open the configuration page of your modem and check for the wep key.

To go to the configuration page, open your internet explorer and type in 192.168.1.1 on the address bar. that is the default address for your actiontec. type in your username and password when prompted. the usual default it ADMIN for username and PASSWORD (lowercase) for password. or you could also try ADMIN (uname)-ADMIN(pword).

click on the wireless settings icon and then click on basic security settings. scroll down on the middle of the page and you will see there your wep key.

if you are unable to open the configuration page because you forgot your username and password, you can reset your modem so that it the uname and password will go back to its factory default settings (admin/password). However, if you are using pppoe connection (authentication using username and password to connect to network) you can lose your connection and you would have to configure your router. so be careful not to press the reset button at the back.

WEP code error

If you're using 64-bit WEP Key, it would usually require you to put in 10 digits from 0-9 and A-F. so if you're putting in your wep key, make sure it's using only the characters 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, A,B,C,D,E,F.

Log into your Router, navigate to the Wireless Setup page, and under Wireless Settings, you can enter the SSID and channel to broadcast.

GT704-WG with Verizon firmware

I just flashed my verizon modem FT704-WG with the actiontec update upgrade301060gt704wg.img. I then selected "Obtain an IP Address through DHCP" and bam away we go... working better than verizons version.
