Did you hook up the brake wire (it is usually pink) to ground? If not hook wire it with the ground wire on your stereo.

mcdevito75 here, I would simply compare the pins on the new dash with the old dash. Or compare the new wireing harness with the old, compare the wires at the connector itself, compare both connectors the new harness and old.

Most aftermarket tachometers will employ a 3 wire system. A "power" wire, a "signal" wire and a "ground" wire. On a stock Sportster's ignition coil there will be 2 terminals/posts. 1 post will have a set of white wire on it the other a blue or pink wire. White is switched 12VDC (vehicle power) and the blue/pink is the secondary side of the coil (signal). I'd really need more information to be most helpful.

what do you mean by control? there is one wire normally pink or white with pink strip that is power 5 volts + black is ground and a reference voltage 5 volts ground is black or white so the other two colors would be the control wires going to the computer. However would need the first 8 numbers of the Vin to know for sure. you can also go to www.alldatadiy.com and purchase a subscription that will give you the exact information you need, they change color codes for wires from time to time and if you hook it up wrong you can destroy the computer so I suggest you purchase the subscription to be sure.

I suspect that the 4 wire harness includes a ground, so you may not be able to connect both brake lights and turn signals, which are separate lamps on the pickup. You may need to get an adapter.

In any case, the color codes on the pickup are:

Tail lights -- pink/blue
Brake Lights -- green/yellow
Left turn signal -- gray/blue
Right turn signal -- gray/red
Ground -- black
