Question about Simplicity Quilter's Classic SW240 Mechanical Sewing Machine

Open Question

Wind disable I am just getting started with my sewing machine and before I sew it is giving me a wind disable error message. I tried to follow the directions in the manual to thread it but it won't start sewing. Do you have any suggestions for me? Thanks for your help, Tammy

SOURCE: How to properly thread the bobbin

From the Simplicity Sew Precious Model SWSP2 manual:
Inserting a new bobbin:

  1. Place wound bobbin into the bobbin case.
  2. Pull about 6 inches of thread out from the bobbin. NOTE: Be sure that the bobbin rotates COUNTER-CLOCKWISE when thread is pulled.
  3. Pass the thread from the bobbin, under the bobbin case spring, and toward the back of the machine.
  4. Slide bobbin cover back into position.

SOURCE: My bobbins sometimes don't wind

when the thread is on the spool pin
1.guide the thread around the bobbin winder thread guide
2.insert the thread through the hole on the bobbin, threading from the inside to the outside
put the the bobbin spindle
3.push the bobbin winder spindle to the right (if you have a electronic machine the LED display
will show SP)
4.depress the foot control, when the bobbin is fully wound, stop it, & push the bobbin spindle to the left, cut the thread & remove it from the spindle

Just a possible suggestion:
Most sewing machine problems are caused by lack of lubrication.

Maybe the tension is causing an error code.

Maybe you can try oiling the recommended lubrication points in the owner's manual.

When following manual directions to wind a bobbin, it starts out OK, but after several winds, the thread turns out with little loops on the bobbin. ??? Sylvia

Make sure that you are running the thread through the winder tension guide before it goes bobbin winder. Best to consult your owner's manual.

Also, it helps to slow down the winding process. Slower speed winds the bobbin more consistently and does not stretch the thread as much as a fast speed will.

Singer 7258 error e2 when winding bobbin

I had this problem too. What I did was turn the post the bobbin sits on to the left (lefty-loosy) and kept re-booting the sewing machine until the bobbin started to spin correctly and the needle disengaged! I was so happy I figured it out, I did not want to return the sewing machine.

When i try to stitch it won't let me and instead says "wind disable", how do i fix it?

Wind disable means you're in the bobbin winding mode. The chrome shaft on the right end of the top of the machine is pushed to the right. Push the (bobbin winder) shaft to the left side of the slot and you should be able to sew again.

What does error E1 mean on a brother CS6000i

hello, the E1 code simply means the machine is working so hard, you can follow the information below to help you fix the problem,

The instructions for bobbin winding tell you to click the start button for the bobbin to wind. When you do that you get that E1 with a beeping. What they don't explain is that in order to press that "UP" arrow button to get the bobbin to wind..........you need to UNPLUG the foot control. So, in other words it to be used for sewing w/o a foot pedal. Now instead of doing as per instructions, assuming you've plugged everything in (foot pedal), after winding is finished just press the foot pedal and your off and running or sewing as the case may be. BTW, look it up in the TROUBLESHOOTING SECTION OF YOUR MANUAL.
please kindly rate the solution if it;s helpful,

take care.

Bobbin Winding message appears when machine is turned on

Is the bobbin winder holder clicked over to the right like you are trying to wind a bobbin? If so, and you are not trying to wind a new bobbin, click it over to the left.

Singer Futura 350

Dear Wendy,

The E4, error message means the safety device is activated. Machine is locked up due to thread entangled with the bobbin case. Remove the needle plate and bobbin case. Check for any thread around the hook area. Also check your handwheel. It should turn freely. Good Luck
