How do you fix a paper jam in a paper shredder?

Leave it to cool down as it may have overheated and locked out to protect the motor. Then put it in reverse and manually pull the paper to assist the motor.

To take apart, remove the head from the bin and you will see screws in deep sockets.

Kodak EasyShare 5300 says out of black ink?

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head. This may unblock the print head.

When i test print all colours show apart from black ink on paper?

If deep cleaning does not clear the black print head then a new print head is required. The cost of print head is expensive and it maybe better to buy a new printer.

How do I change ink cartridges onEpson Stylus SX425W printer. Apart from lifting the scanner I cant see any buttons to press and the present cartridges wont move along to enable me to eject the black one.

Turn the printer on.
Lift the lid that covers the print-head mechanism.
In a few seconds, the print-heads will slide to a position where the ink-cartridge can be removed.
Then, "unlock" the ink-cartridge from its socket, and gently remove it.
Replace it.
Then, "lock" the ink-cartridge into place, and close the lid.
Print a test-page.

My Epson 1290s is printing with lines running through, less than a centimetre apart. the lines are always in colour, and even occur on black and white printing. the lines always appear to be magenta.

Go to your printer settings and navigate to the "Maintenance" options. Run the options for alignment and nozzle checks. If this does not work, the print heads may need to be cleaned, especially if the printer has not been used for a while. You will have to remove the ink heads and use alcohol to clean them if you feel comfortable doing so. Otherwise, it may be cheaper just to go out and buy a new printer if the print heads are defective.

I had an HP printer which gave out my daughter got me a canon. There are no instructions on how to fill the cartrage.

Go to any store that sells "printer ink refill" kits.
They will be glad to give you instructions.

Or, if you just need to remove the ink-cartridges:
* turn the printer on
* lift the lid that covers the print-head
* wait 10 seconds, for the print-head to slide to some position
* push down on the HP ink-cartridge to "unlock" it from its socket
* lift it out of the socket
* get it professionally refilled, or buy a replacement

I am having trouble printing I just brought all new ink, replaced old with new and only dark blue is printing

Sounds like your print heads are clogged. Try running the maintenance to clean the print heads, that should get you working. If that doesn't work, well i hate to tell you this, but the print heads are not replaceable by an end user. Meaning to get new ones you will have to find them on-line or find an authorized hp repair shop willing to sell you them. In any case, unless you have loads of free time, you are better off buying a new printer.

If the maintenance cycle does not work, and you would like to try taking your printer apart, please let me know and i will help you get it apart so you can try unclogging the heads yourself. If you haven't taken one of these apart before please be ready to spend up to 12 hours (if your mechanical aptitude is, er, low...) taking it apart and putting it together.

Alarm and power probelm

If you already took the printer apart, check the socket where you connect the printer to power, check that the connector soldering joints and contacts are not broke.

The circuit area near the AC adapter socket on the printer is the power board.
If there is a fuse check it.
If there is smell or trace of burnt, that means that a component, usually a capacitor, had blown.

If you do not find anything it must be the AC adapter terminal cable, or the connector , that has a broken contact.

To test it you need to get a multimeter and measure voltage from the AC adapter connector. Alternatively take the printer to a repair shop , tell them that you want to buy a power adapter for your printer, and ask to test a spare power adapter first. Many shops do not charge repair fee for this, as long as it can be done on the fly, and printer must not be left in for repairs.
