Regarding the firmware, I do not think there is any firmware update available for download for this unit. I did not find any download for your product. Often, the image disk is distributed only to qualified repairers.
Yes this is your problem that you no longer receive an Analogue Signal.
This unit doesn't contain a Digital Freeview Tuner so you will need to purchase some sort of External Digital Freeview Box to connect to this unit to enable you to continue recording on it.
Original dvd disc, not copy or not another countries datas disc?Same country as the DVD player was bought and formatted Disc? Most likely the disc u trying to play it is in a difference formatted of recording or finalizing data codes inbeted by some patent coded program.Tries play many more other DVD discs, should work find, than the original disc,u trying to play have protected datas or difference format and not same as of ur DVD player main programming firmware.
It looks to me to be an old machine as I see listings for that model in 2006, now there could be a few reasons firstly it may need a firmware update which will enable it to "recognise discs" made later than it (service engineer).
The laser may be poor, playing is less stressful than recording or it may need a general service, their mechanisms and/or optic slides get dusty sticking to old lubricant slowing response times so the machine goes into "timeout" or just gives up, some have rubber belts which stretch.
It comes down to cost of repair versus new one? you could try a lens cleaner disc (a disc with a bit of fuzz stuck on it) but I have found these have varied sucess and a service clean is better with a suitable liquid.
Its not easy to copy a DVD, unless you have the proper software. Even then there is a lot of trial and error that you have to go thru. My suggestion is to findout whats the recording software that are used by both of the recorders and try to get around them by means of a computer.
Or alternatevly do the recording via a computer.
This is happing becuase of your motherboards BIOS ! Really, this happened to me too. You see, our motherboards which are very old cant support above 80 and so on. This is beacuse of the BIOS. You will need to update your BIOS inorder to give new features.
Try go to the Asus home page and download the latest driver for your motherboard. Then install it in your motherboard's BIOS. There is intructions for this in the Asus's home page.
I had exactly the same problem -- error message of "This disc can be neither played nor recorded. Please check the disk [EC:0207]" after the machine had been working fine for a year. I downloaded the latest firmware from the Samsung website, burned it to a CD-R disk (took three tries until the DVD Recorder recognized the disk -- worked when I used Rocio CD Creater software), then loaded the firmware updates to the DVD Recorder. On the Samsung website you can retrive the firmware update instructions as well. I had to perform the firmware upgrade several times until it successfully updated both the system firmware as well as the disk firmware. After successfully updating both, the Recorder now recognizes the DVD-R disks and I was able to resume recording. I have however, noted some choppiness with the playback of the newly recorded disks. Other than that, the firmware upgrade successfully resolved the problem.
