My freezers compressor is getting very hot and the freezer is not freezing

Your Kenmore freezer is made by Gibson (Frigidaire) Your model number for your freezer is 253.24092102 I believe the problem is a defective 216979700 Main Control Board Look over the 216979700 Main Control Board for signs of burn marks or heat damage. Sometimes you can see damage but not always.I need you to do a few things when you see the freezer defrosting like this. Feel the top of the compressor and see if it is becoming extreemly hot while it stops freezing and begins to melt the ice in the freezer. ice cream is always the last to freeze and a temp of minus -10 degrees is usually required to get it to get hard. if you put the ice cream in the door it will be especially tough to freeze. a good thermometor is a good investment as you can observe the temps. usually ten degrees or 20 degrees is what they run. yes they do cycle on and off as long as they hold temps thats good. the outside of the freezer gets warm because the hot compressed refrigerant is spread through piping near its surface giving up its heat of compression . setting the stat to max will freeze the ice cream eventually but utility bill suffers . good luck

When you say "cleaned", did you defrost it? And. if so, could you have damaged the internal lining? Often the coil inside the wall of a chest freezer can fracture if hit or stabbed at during defrosting.
Other than that, is the compressor running (you would hear it)? it may have overheated. If not running, see if it feels hot (siezed) or cold (no power from thermostat). If cold, put it on fast freeze and see if it kicks into life (thermostat faulty) or not (compressor fault, time for a new freezer!)

That is a very bad sign, but before you unplug it pull the machine out from the wall and check to see if it feels hot back there as well. Then remove the lower cover and find the condersor fan motor. Its the only fan back there. I'd willing to bet that the fan is not running. The purpose of the the fan is draw air across the compressor and blow it through the condensor therefore lowering the temperature on both parts. When its not working/ running, the heat from the compressor and the condensor is pass onward to the machine and the machine then acts as a heat sink.
Also, if the machine is too close to the wall or the condensor coils are dirty you'll get the same effect, so be sure to check those things out as well

I had the same problem with an upright and so I bought a piercing valve and charged the compressor with 134R and has been working great since.

Check the back wall of the freezer for ice buildup.
If yes, a defrost parts problem.
Check the freezer fan. Is it running?
If no, replace the freezer fan.
Check the condenser fan at the compressor. Is it running?
If no, is compressor hot?
If compressor is hot replace condenser fan motor.
If compressor is not hot.
Replace the compressor start relay.

between the door and freezer is very hot, and the refrigerator is not that cold and the freezing is freezing but not that well, ice cream is soft but meat freeze and ice is not melting. Also behind the fridge at the bottom is very hot.

look around the back of the freeze and at the bottom you will see a small black compressor .Put your hand on it and if it is running you will feel it vibrating. If it vibrating but running very hot them it means you have no gas in the system so the freezer won't freeze. If the compressor is cold and not running then it could be eaither the relay on the compressor or the board on the front either way you will need to get an engineer in
