Can Panasonic give a download link for new HDC SD-5 customers?

  • ghostsurfer Apr 07, 2008

    Is there a link?

  • longss Apr 27, 2008

In the end, I had to buy HDWriter 2.5. I had believed that the MPEG soundtrack bug in 2.0 had beeen fixed but I am getting a transcribed MPEG without a soundtrack. Anyone have similar problems or solutions?

Just received a response from the Panasonic Technical Support:

"Thank you for your response. We recommend converting the file and using a different software program to do any editing, if the HD Writer is not fitting your needs."

What sort of company is it?

I bought a SD5 , and I have the same problem with sound on my editing software... I also cannot install my SD writer software onto my brand new Acer Aspire XP sp3 laptop.
I would like to know where to download the new version, and also which alternative software one could use.

Have installed HD Writer AE 1.0 for HDC on laptop running Vista. Works OK. Have tried to install on PC running Win 7 but won't load. Is there a way to upgrade software to run on a Windows 7...

If you have the CD with HD Writer AE, justfollow the steps below:
1. Go to the Administrator account and download the update software from: http://cnc.asp.hi-ho.ne.jp/cnc/global_cs/software/win7/Setup.exe

2. Insert the CD-ROM with the HD Writer AE1.0.

3. Double click the Setup.exe you just downloaded, and follow the procedure.

I have a Panasonic HDC-SD5 camera and it doesn't work on I-Mac. The Mac can't read the files. What should I do to work with it on I movie ? Is there any driver for the mac ?

HDC-SD5 + iMac = perfect compatibility
I have an iMac (early 2011).-I remove the SDHC card from the camera-plug the card directly into the iMac SD slot (Below the CD/DVD slot) -wait 5 seconds till iMovie or Final Cut X download high-quality HD video.
I was digitizing video on a Mac IIx back in the late 1980's, a long, tiresome error-ridden process that only just worked. The tools we have today are brilliant.Anybody wanting to do serious or hobby video on a computer needs one of Steve Jobs' babies. No downloads of drivers, no conversions, no installation.Just plug 'n play.
Hope this helps

HD writer will not write to disc

I just used HDWriter today to copy a film I took from a new Panasonic HDC-HS250K to DVD. It took about 30 minutes to complete, and the movie was only 1 Gb; about 5-10 minutes of HD. I used a Memorex DVD+R that I happen to have from a couple years ago. The video looks very good played back on my PC or HD TV using a regular DVD player (not blue ray). I don't happen to have any other DVD except for the 2 sided which I hate to use for the short videos. So in looking to buy some more I'm concerned that DVD-R might not work so well. I've read some conflicting reviews about that. Anyway just wanted to let you know that the DVD+R worked fine.

Can you not remove the memory card from the camera and read the data on a cheap USB card reader? You don't need any special software to do this.

good luck.
