I had the same problem. Grabbing the little tab and yanking does not seem like the best idea, as it has a groove that fits around the chopper screen, and another lip that fits tightly against the motor housing. There is also a hook at the bottom of the tab that helps hold the cover in place. If you are too rough you could damage stuff. I found if I used a thin lever (screwdriver) on the screw flange side, and worked tthe tab gently with a needlenose, it came free without too much trouble.

It's held on with a # 15 Torx screw. If that's out, it may be stuck. Grab the plastic tab on the corner of the cover with a pliers and pull up.

Good luck!

I have a KitchenAid KUDSEWH2 dishwasher that is not allowing the water to spray onto the dishes. It comes into the DW through the fill part but does not spray upwards into the racks

Either your motor or capacitor are bad, or the chopper screen inside the pump is plugged, which can mean the chopper is broken. Remove the lower spray arm, the screws on pump cover, the cover, then screws inside pump that hold chopper cover. If screen isn't plugged the motor or capacitor are bad.

I also can't get the chopper cover off my dishwasher.

My chopper cover was held in place by two screws, but even after removing them I found I needed to use a pair of 'channel lock' pliers to grasp the plastic cover and pull it up and off. Yours may just be stuck from a few years of use and thermal cycling.

Putting the whole thing back together was an equal joy...

Whirlpool quiet partner II top rack sprayer doesnt work

The top rack spray arm doesn't work because of low water pressure from the wash motor or it's clogged with debris.
If the top spray arm looks clear of debris, remove the lower spray arm and lower feed tube to access the wash motor. Remove the 4 torx screws and the filter (accumulator assembly). Remove the torx screw and the inlet protector that covers the chopper assembly. Make sure the chopper is not broken (broken chopper will fill with debris and block water flow). While holding the chopper blade, reach inside the "D" shaped opening on top of the motor and spin the wheel/motor by hand in each direction to make sure either the chopper gear or the motor gear that drives the chopper is not broken. Replace the chopper if necessary (part # 8268383). If the motor gear is broken, replace the sump and motor assembly (part # 8535150). Remove any debris from the sump area in the process.
You don't have to shut the power off to the dishwasher because the door will be open, but if you feel more comfortable, do so.
Good luck!

Top tray of Kenmore Quietguard3 dishwasher not cleaning!

The top rack is not cleaning because of low water pressure from the wash motor to the upper spray arm.
Assuming the top spray arms are clear of debris, remove the lower spray arm and lower feed tube to access the wash motor. Remove the 4 torx screws and the filter (accumulator assembly). Remove the torx screw and the inlet protector that covers the chopper assembly. Make sure the chopper is not broken (broken chopper will fill with debris and block water flow). Dishwasher spray arms don't spin & spray water

Could be a a couple different issues.. Not filling with enough water or food chopper broke or food chopper filter screen clogged.

Check water level:
Run the DW and wait for the main wash to start (water will fill. pause then complete fill) The water should be no more than 1/4 inch below the heating element. If not there..replace water inlet valve.

Inspect food chopper:
1. Remove lower spray arm and rear water supply tube to upper spray arm.
2. Remove torx screws that secure the sump cover.
3. Remove primary filter
4. Remove food chopper cover to expose the chopper assembly. Inspect for breakage or blockage.
