Question about Kitchen Ranges

2 Answers

Just bought a double oven convection range. Both ovens are covered in sooty dust. Is this something that should stay there until after my first use or does this get cleaned up with a soft damp cloth.

Hi
I am assuming this is a gas oven, if that is the case and you have propane not city gas, the ovens need to be converted for propane use. If they have been converted then they may need to be further adjusted. As for the soot on there already a damp cloth should remove most of it. Please contact me if you need any more help

I have a dual fuel Dacor ERD30 range that will not stay hot. Lately, it will heat up to the desired temperature and beep to indicate it is ready, but then will not hold the temperature. And strangely, if...

Sounds similar to what mine is doing.
Since Dacor uses the gas broiler to preheat the oven, the problem is that the lower heating element isn't getting power.
I took out the element and verified that the element is still good, but no AC voltage coming from the relay board to the element.
Try setting on the Pure Convection mode - it will probably heat up and hold the temp fairly well - that still doesn't do any good if you need to bake something covered (convection modes are useless for covered container..

Oven and broiler: no heat

Flipped the breaker switch! Although we had looked at the breaker first thing, and it was not flipped off, plus everything else on the range was working: we found out it is actually a double breaker, with one half controlling just the oven, and it can be just partially flipped and you don't notice it. So as soon as you toggle it off and on again, you are back in full power.

Range ovens covered in black sooty dust.

Wipe it out with a damp cloth. Any intended coating to the enamel would have been baked on long before it left the factory.

Good luck!
