Remove the front plastic cover on the icemaker and you will see a bunch of little holes make a jumper wire out #10 or 12 house wire strip about 1/4 inch off the ends an insert in the holes marked t&h this will start a test cycle make sure you hold the plastic insulation so you don't get bit if the ice maker starts cycling remove the wire and watch for it to stop listen for the icemaker valve to open if the ice maker finishes and the valve didn’t fill replace the water valves if the icemaker doesnt cycle and you may have to kind of twist the jumper back and forth to get it to make contact depending on the gauge you used then replace the ice maker motor module if you hear the valve open and the ice maker doesnt fill check for a frozen ice fill tube that should do it

My whirpool 6th sense american fridge freezer has stoped making ice? The water is still live, th eonly problem appears to be the level control arm which is in the up position and want move?

Be very careful, when the ice maker malfunctions, many things can be the culprit. The start device on some models of refridgerator for maytag and whirlpool have been recalled. If your appliance was manufactured in the last 5-10 years you may be having an issue with this component. Mine recently caught on fire at this device that is located near the compressor. If you would like to be a part of the petition for a recall on this appliance contact me at jboooor@hotmail.com

We are getting water in the fridge on the top shelf..we think the freezer is leaking? what do you think?

it sounds like your defrost drian is clogged remove rear panel inside freezer and you should see a hole at the bottom below the coils. it could be covered in ice if it is use a hair dryer to melt the ice and then flush hot water thru the drain hole with a turkey baster some whirpools have a removable floor panel also in the freezer you can tell if it does you will see a screw in each front corner then lift out panel and clear any ice that has build up

Is the vent on the side of the crisper suppose to blow out cool air?I have a whirpool side by side..8years old

No, that vent is for the return air going back to the freezer. The vent at the top is where the freezer fan blows air into the fridge.

I did some research online, and read that the Start Relay is most commonly the problem. My husband bought the part, (about $50) and reattached it to the side of the compressor....and was cold immediately! apparently a very common problem on these fridges.

WHIRPOOL ED2

Not enough model to get the wire diagram. It sounds like a diode is out in the water valve harness. If it is using the triple valve on that unit.

Ice maker and frige

A COMMON FAILURE FOR THE WHIRLPOOL REFRIGERATORS THAT CAUSE NO COOLING IN THE FREEZER IS A BAD RELAY ON THE COMPRESSOR.
LISTEN CLOSELY FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES TO THE BACK OF THE REFRIGERATOR. IF YOU HEAR A CLICK AND THE COMPRESSOR HUMS AND THEN CLICKS AGAIN AND SHUTS OFF THE COMPRESSOR, THE RELAY IS MOST LIKELY BAD. ABOUT A 40 DOLLAR COMPONENT.
ALSO, CHECK THE FREEZER BACK WALL. IF IT IS FROSTED UP, THERE IS A FAILURE OF THE DEFROST CYCLE. YOU WOULD HAVE TO CHECK THREE COMPONENTS. THE DEFROST CONTROL, HEATER, AND BI-METAL.
