Re: Will not fax
Hook a phone to the fax line and try to dial out... a fax line is no different than a phone line at your house ,, don't use a multi line phone like the ones at the office use a phone like you would have at the house to hook the the fax line .. If you are able to dial out call someone and check the line for static and pops they can cause the fax not to work either.. Good Luck

Start off by dialing your fax number from either a cell phone or from your landline. This way you can hear the telephone line ring. If you can hear the line ring, then personally go to another fax machine and handwrite the word "TEST" on a piece of paper and then fax it to your number. Return to your fax machine and check for your note. If there is no note, then disconnect your line connection to the machine and power it down for 5 minutes. Reconnect the lines and power it back up and try again.
Hi there, the fax machine on your all-in-one printer is really handy when it works properly. Getting your fax capability back requires a troubleshooting process that moves through the possible causes of a problem and arrives at a solution. Follow these steps to troubleshoot the fax machine on an all-in-one printer.
Plug the power cords in, push the power buttons on and get everything up and running. Sounds simple, but lack of power is the culprit quite often.
Step 2.Check for a phone connection in the correct input jack. Some printers with fax capability have more than one phone jack so you can hook up an answering machine or another phone "downstream" from the printer. Consult your instruction manual to determine the right connection for your printer.
Step 3.Swap out the all-in-one printer for a working phone to find out if the problem is in the phone line coming from the wall. Once you hook up the phone, you should get a dial tone if the line is working. Remember to reconnect the all-in-one printer after you're done.
try switching the fax with a phone and calling... that phone with your cell... see if you have static... if you have static on the line... then call your phone company and have them fix the line... or try putting a magnet filter on the line... next reconnect your fax and call... if your phone line is ok... and it just keeps ringing.... adjust the ring wait time to 2.... if thats doesn't help... you have a bad mainboard...
check the hand set is correctly seated on its cradle.
Check the Hook button on the front of the machine.
Disconnect the fax machine from both the phone and power lines for several minutes, reconnect and try again.
1)Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the HP Fax machine. 2)Verify that the phone cable is fully inserted into the fax machine. If your model has a removable
Line Interface Unit
(LIU) where the phone line plugs into, verify that it is securely snapped in place. 3)If the HP Fax model belongs to the
HP Officejet R80 Series
, verify that the cable which goes from the
Automatic Document Feeder
assembly to the rear of the HP All-in-One base is connected.
4)Reconnect the power cord. After the fax reinitializes and it is ready, try to send and receive faxes again.
