He paper’s weight may be expressed on a different basis than the paper used to rate the printer’s capabilities. For example, a 20-pound bond paper equates to 28 pounds cover and 42 pounds index papers in thickness. The differences among bases stem from the sizes of the large sheets from which the paper was cut. For example, Sharp says, bond paper’s weight is determined by 500 sheets of 17- x 22-inch stock (later sectioned into 8.5- x 11-inch reams), whereas index paper’s weight stems from 500 sheets of 25.5- x 30.5-inch paper.

Match the basis for the weight of the paper to the basis of the printer’s maximum paper weight rating. If the printer was rated on only one basis, such as cover or index, and your paper ****’s wrapper only lists the paper’s weight by another basis, such as bond.

Look at the paper feeder assembly to see if the paper is slipping. If so, the problem might be the type of paper you are using. The paper feeder requires some friction between the sheets of paper so the top sheet can be pulled into the printing chamber. Since printers use many different kinds of printing paper, you should check the printer manual to determine the specific paper type for your printer.

Press the RESUME/CANCEL button on the printer to clear the error, then load one sheet of A4 or Letter-sized paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder.

Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to clear the error and move the printer to a darker location.
After carrying out the above measures, if the problem continues after aligning the Print Head again, press the RESUME/CANCEL button to clear the error, and then perform manual print head alignment. For details on manual print head alignment, see "Manual Print Head Alignment."

Says paper jam and there is no paper jam

Leading cause of paper jams is debris / foreign objects that accidentally fell into the paper feed area. Please try this approach to fix the problem:

  1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.
  2. Grab a flashlight and look inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.
  3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also carefully turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.
  4. If feeder is clear, place the printer on the table. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.
  5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions in the paper path.
  6. Close the printer cover.
  7. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - the black box where the power cord is plugged into. Re-plug after 30 seconds.
  8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Paper transport works not properly, 3 flashes orange LED

Hi,
First make sure the printers well connected and the power supply properly plugged.
  • Remove any previously loaded paper.
  • Check out the printers Auto sheet feeder/front feeder for any paper jams and remove manually any visible stuck papers.
  • Turn the printer off and on.This also helps in automatically removing any stuck papers that may not be manually removed.
  • Make sure there is no foreign objects in the Auto sheet feeder.
  • Make sure you load a fair amount of plain papers in the feeder, that is,reduce by half the amount you feed into the feeder.
  • In case the printers rear cover had been removed, fit it properly by pressing it firmly until it fully fits into the rear of the printer.

Hope this helps.Thanks!

My 1900 printer power is on and flashing slowly and the paper/garbage light is on and not flashing.

Hello.

You most likely have a paper jam or a paper feeding problem. Paper may have jammed in the sheet feeder, manual feed slot, or roll paper slot.

Sheet Feeder or Manual Feed Slot: Press the
paper button to eject any jammed sheets, then open
the printer cover and remove any paper jammed inside.
Press the paper button again to clear the error.

Hope this helps.

The auto document feeder does not pick up the paper

The pickup roller is probably dirty. Take a clean sheet of paper and put a small amount of rubbing alcohol at the end. Take that same end and place it in the automatic feeder and attempt to feed through for a few times. This should clean the pickup roller and allow paper to be picked up. Wait a few minutes for the alcohol to dry and attemt to feed a clean sheet of paper. You might need to repeat the process a few times

My printer won't feed the paper through. the spindle rolls but won't grab the paper in the paper feeder

One common cause of paper feed issues is a build up of dust on the printer's rear paper feed roller. This roller consists of a plastic axle white roller. This is located in the automatic sheet feeder and is referred to as the "Pick Roller." As dust builds up on the rubber rollers, they become less tacky and therefore unable to grab a single sheet of paper.
To prevent and/or cure this type of paper feed problem, these rubber rollers should be cleaned.

Unplug the printer's power cord and remove the paper from the automatic sheet feeder. Please remove the paper access door from back of the printer and clean the white rollers inside with a cloth dampened with warm water (be sure there is no excess water on the cloth as it may drip into the machine). After these are free of any dust, close the paper access door. Reload the paper and plug the power cord back in. The paper should then feed normally.

Next, try this printer self-test by following the steps given below:

1. Turn the printer ON.
2. Press the down arrow button till the screen displays “Maintenance". .
3. Press the "Check" button.
4. Press the "Down arrow" button till the screen displays “Print Test Page.”
5. Press the "Check" button.

The self-test should at least print out a set of either black or color bars, if not both (if you have a printer with both color and black installed simultaneously). Should this test fail, try it again without cartridges installed.  If the self-test still fails to take paper in and make sounds like the carrier is moving across the paper, this is a hardware issue, and the printer will require service. If the self-test completes without any cartridges installed, run the self-test again with the color cartridge installed by itself. (If you have both black and color cartridges, after this test, run the test again with just the black cartridge installed.) If you find that either cartridge causes the self-test to fail, please let us know.

If the self-test prints, but has lines or smudges or other print quality issues, let us know. This includes any print quality issues, we need to know if the problems you have with your black or color are based in the printer, or communications with your computer, or the computer's software.
If the self-test prints your test bar(s) clearly, the printer hardware is not at fault.

Can't select Velvet Fine Art media type when using sheet feeder as source.

I had the same problem, same printer. So with a little checking I found a solution. The paper has to be fed through the single page paper feeder. (See manual to setup. Can be downloaded from Epson.) Select manual/roll in the page setup section when you're ready to print. For instance, I was using 8.5 X 11 velvet, so select letter > then subset of roll/manual. After doing this velvet and other specialty paper profiles were selectable.

Paper either just rolls through without printing or won't catch and sits there

This has occured to a 2.hand printer I just bought. First head was clogged very much. I disassembled the head, used a paper towel soaked in luke warm water to clear off the over-gooed printing head surface. It is quite easy to get the head out and back in. Unfortunately my cyan ran out during clean-cycle, so I can't say if it also cured the passing paper problem.
