I have Panasonic DMC-FX100 , Lumix 12 Mega Pixels.
When I on my camera its shows that "Please turn camera off and turn on again." when I turn off the lence cannot shut down , it makes noise. When I turn on, the lence move again but cannot turn off.
Fed up with the zero response from Lumix, Panasonic and Matsushita I came up with my own solution.......I bought a Canon Digital as replacement. 9 Mega Pixels, 4 times digital zoom and 20% approx. of the price I paid for the heap - of - **** Lumix. Bye- bye Lumix, Pana and Matsu....you wont be seeing me as a customer again.
This is a common problem to deal with in all these type of cameras. You can take the camera apart going slowly and you will need a small philips and straight screwdriver. It is easy to do but time consuming. Once you get the lens apart you can see the spring that holds onto the side and either super glue it if the plastic is broken or remove it all together. I would rather try to fix it. Let me know how it goes.
There should be a button on the camera to turn on the LCD screen so you can see whats going on.
Here is a link to the manual.
Look on page 10, button 6.
After the camera is turned on, wait 20 seconds, then hit that button and see if the screen turns on.
Hope that helps.
