Unfortunately that number alone doesn't give you a definitive answer. If you follow this link and go about 3/4s of the way down you will find your casting number listed for a few different engines, all around the same era. Sometimes the displacement is stamped on the block, on the ledge behind the left cylinder head.

The casting number was used on 350ci from 1969 to 1979. 2 or 4 bolt main. Was put in Vettes and if so should be 4 bolt main.

Looking for. Info on gm block 3970010 looking for all origanal

That is just the casting number indicating it might be a 4-bolt main 350. You will need the stamped numbers on the block right in front of the passenger side head.

What year is this engine? and ci

From this chart - I think you may be misreading the number - 3970010 is possibly the actual number: Which makes the engine pretty old 68-72 350 V8 - 4 bolt main. I included past this number so that you can see that the number you posted doesn't actually exist. And thus my conclusion that the 9 is most likely a 0. Hope this helps. 3970010 350 69 Corvette late 69,4 bolt main 3970010 302 69 Camaro Z/28,Late 69, 4 bolt main 3970010 350 69-79 Truck 2&4 bolt main 3970010 350 69-79 Pass,Chevelle,Camaro,Nova,MonteCarlo 2&4 bolt main 3970010 350 70 Corvette 300,350,370 HP 4 bolt main 3970010 350 71 Corvette 270,330 HP 4 bolt main 3970010 350 72 Corvette 200,255 HP 4 bolt main 3970014 350 69-77 Pass,Chevelle,Camaro, Nova,MonteCarlo 2 or 4 bolt main 3970014 350 69-79 Truck 2 or 4 bolt main 3970014 350 72 Corvette late &undefined;72,200 HP,255HP 4 bolt main 3970020 307 68-73 Pass,Chevelle,Camro, Nova 3970020 307 69-73 Truck 3970024 307 69-73 Pass,Chevelle,Camro, Nova,Truck 3992386 327 68-69 Pass,Chevelle,Camro, Nova,Truck Large Jounal

Have a 350 block, 3970010. With 0.10 S stamped on it. What is the S for

The "010" embossing on your small block chevy indicates that the block is 10 percent nickel/iron alloy. These "010" blocks can be of either "2 bolt or 4 bolt" crankshaft main cap variety. The 020 blocks are rare, but preferable to 010 blocks as they are 20 percent nickel to iron and are stronger. The higher nickel content makes for a slight add in weight, but a much stronger block. The "S" I'm not sure of yet.
