The message about parameters is from SMART monitoring, a function of the motherboard. SMART monitoring keeps a watch on several hard drive parameters, and warns you when they go out of preset limits. It's meant as an early warning that the drive may be failing, and you should back up any important data while you still can. The message doesn't mean that hard drive failure is imminent, but it's a good idea to do the backup if you haven't. It's probably also a good idea to buy a replacement hard drive now. They aren't expensive. Use a program like Norton Ghost to copy the current drive image to the new one, and you won't need to restore your system from scratch later.
Your mouse problem might be related to the disk drive, or it could just be a coincidence. A new mouse is cheap if the freezing keeps happening after you resolve the hard drive issue.
It means exactly what the message says. The hard drive is going to fail in the near future. I recommend you back up your data before the hard drive fails completely. When
the hard drive fails, replace the hard drive, and use your Compaq
recovery disk to install Windows and the device drivers plus your
programs to get the laptop working again.
SMART is used to measure your HDD health. It warns you of impending failure of your hard drive. If it goes down, it's a good idea to backup important stuff and prepare to replace the HDD.
S.M.A.R.T is an acronym for Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology systems (SMART) and it's usually built in to most modern ATA and SCSI hard disks.

In many occasions the hard drive get fill from many background reporting that was not deleted or by unexpected shutdown or by the hibernations feature if you have it on...try to go to the c:\ and type dir/p and look for all the files that are big and you do not recognize them and post the list to see if they can be deleted or not meantime did you start your maintenance on the drive? Go to my computer and right click on the c drive and go to property and select one by one from the list and see how much left on the driver and let me know.I will be working with you to conclusions of this issue. Please see that grant me your approvals by rating my service and I hope that I can serve you again the future.
Sounds like your hard drive is about to pack up. You can disable SMART for your hard drive in your CMOS setup. which will allow you to boot up your pc. I suggest you back-up all your data as soon as possible before the hard drive fails completely.
