Question about Computers & Internet
Any idea how to get into XP and fix at least temporarily.
I have been getting the SMART hard disk failure imminent message but after resetting BIOS,and no onger getting the message, thought the problem had gone away.
Now PC hangs on bootup on each option taken - last Known good config or start windows normally
Is your bios still detecting the hdd and setting the right settings?
there may be a possibility that u will need to set this hdd as a slave and use another hdd to reinstall an os and therefore access all the infomation on the failing hdd before its too late.
hope this helps

SMART is used to measure your HDD health. It warns you of impending failure of your hard drive. If it goes down, it's a good idea to backup important stuff and prepare to replace the HDD.
S.M.A.R.T is an acronym for Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology systems (SMART) and it's usually built in to most modern ATA and SCSI hard disks.
