The key should be on a sticker on the modem dependant on your isp.

When u try to connect wirelessly with your laptop does it find your home network when you scan for available networks...If so you need to input the SSID and passsword which is on the bottom of your wireless router usually or you should have received a card with these details on from your Internet provider....Hope this helps xx

My computer won't work with wifi at my house but it will work everywhere else. Also other laptops work with the wifi at my house but mine doesn't. How do I fix this?

I'm assuming it's a laptop and not a desktop. Check the wireless Network connections and verify it is enabled. Check to see if it picks up all the surrounding networks in your area. Check your wireless switch to verify it's on if you have one. Make sure you input the correct "access code" to your router or modem to get the wireless. Try to disconnect from the SSID and reconnect with the known correct number again.

Hello, i have an hp laptop. my family and i just moved and purchased a new wi fi router. my step dad's laptop can connect without a problem, mine will not. i've tried everything except completely wipping...

Most computers connect to a WiFi network automatically.
Please make sure the wireless in your computer is turned on. There should be a button with an indicator light near your keyboard, just switch it on.

Alternatively open your start menu and find "network" or "internet connections". There should be an option for wireless that you can select. Wireless connections will be scanned and you will need to select from a list of options to connect to. Once you click it you will be connected to your home WiFi Network.

If your network has a password your will need to enter the Network Name (Called SSID) and the Password in the Wireless Connection Wizard.

This will resolve the issue you are facing.
I will look forward to your feedback and positive rating.

I have an HP Pavilion a1410n desktop PC. We just moved to a new house, and where I want to put the PC I'm having a difficult time getting wired internet access. I want to know if there is anything I can...

hi, you have a couple of options open to you for doing this, you could either buy a wireless receiver card that goes inside your desktop computer and then this will pick up the wireless signal the same as a laptop would once the software that comes with it is installed.

the other option you have open to you and the cheapest one would be to go out and buy a wirelss usb dongle you can buy these from all computer stalls and most shops that sell computer goods, you just plug this into your usb port on the computer and it then scans for all wireless signals the same as your laptop does all you then do is pick your own network and click connect, if you have any passwords protecting your network it will ask you to enter this before you connect, if you are unsure if its protected all you need to do is call your internet service provider and ask them if it has a password and if its secure.

if its not secure you could have your neighbours connecting to your wiresless network so you need to have some sore of protection, you should have been as you all ready use wireless for your laptop.

the best thing for you to do would be to go to a computer hardware store (maplin if you have one where you live) but any store will sell them and just tell them you need a usb dongle so you can connect your desktop computer to your wireless network.
these dongles are cheap to buy and saves you taking the desktop computer apart to insert a wireless card inside your computer so thats the option i would say would be the easiest and cheapest option open to you.

i hope that gives you the info you was looking for.
if you have any problems just give me a shout back

Need to download a wireless adapter for my Gateway 830gm desktop

Are you sure there is no wireless device in the machine? Picking up a wireless connection in a desktop without a wireless device is a bit of an impossibility. Do you have a cellular device connected to the computer? Some of the cell wireless cards (Sprint for example) double as wireless cards for wifi hotspots. Many cell phones can be treated as wireless modems on your computer. Take another look and post back.

I experienced this problem last night, and seemed to have fixed it this morning.

SYMPTOMS: HP Pavilion dv9000, Win Vista x64 Ultimate. Running on battery, battery level became critical; windows went into 'Hibernate' mode. Upon plugging in to mains power, and resuming the Windows session, the Wireless is still disabled, no matter what position the switch is in.

POSSIBLE CAUSE: Critical battery switches off the wireless network card to preserve power. Motherboard seems to log this status but when re-connecting to mains power the card does not receive power again. Uninstalling the driver and getting Windows to re-install automatically upon re-boot does not work.

SOLUTION: Charge up the battery whilst the computer is running. You can charge it to a substantial level, say, above 25%. Disconnect mains power so that your laptop is running on battery only. Set your wireless switch to OFF (this is usually to the left position, away from the orange indicator). Now run your computer down to the critical battery level again (perhaps overnight). In the morning when you press the power button, the 'CHARGE' indicator (looks like a lightning bolt) on the front of the laptop should flash quickly, indicating that there is no charge in the battery. Remove the battery from the laptop's underside. Wait a couple of seconds, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Keeping the battery off the laptop, reconnect mains power. Boot up your PC. When at the Windows desktop and all your startup programs have finished loading, switch your wireless on (to the right position). You should now have a blue light, and wireless should once again be working. You can now re-insert your battery. You might have to setup your wireless network connection again as mine seemed to be 'lost', but at least hopefully the main problem is now fixed.

Trying to set up wireless from desktop (Main ethernet computer) to Laptop @ home. Have cable modem (comcast) connected to desktop (main ethernet plugged computer)Belkin Wireless Router G ethernet is hooked...

Check that the wireless drivers are installed properly on both your laptop and desktop. THe certificate error is because your laptop does not "trust" your computer. Under network conections click add a connection ec, and when you try to conect, microsoft should ask you weva to trust the connections from computer to computer that should do it :D

How do i go wireless with my acer laptop? (my laptop has an ethernet port) how and what does the router connect to?

You will need to purchase a PCMIA Wireless card , it jsut slots into the expansion slots on the side of the laptop , they look like a flat card slot, also the you will need to purchase a Wireless Router / Access point (AP) then plug you router into this , this will send out a wireless signal which you can then configure to pick up on the laptop.

heres a link to a guide i wrote , it will help you in setting up a wireless connection and also a guide on what to purchase.

goodluck :)
