Does not stay lit. It heats up, runs for a minute

Does not stay lit. It heats up, runs for a minute or two and simply goes out. I have moved senor closer, and further away but it does not matter. I have opened the lid and it shuts off. I have kept the lid closed only to find it has gone out....

Heater goes off after running for a few minutes like it over heats or something. It will relight in a short period but goes out again.

My mr. Heater lights only stays lit for about 3 minutes and then it goes out

I had this same problem with my heater. I cleaned the propane tube where the flame comes out (after it’s off and cooled down) with a Qtip and some alcohol. After removing some cotton, it will fit all the way down to the end of the tube. Repeat until it comes out clean and stays lit. I had to repeat with 91% rubbing alcohol and more Qtips, and most of the cotton removed.

Toro porta heater only stays lit for 5 or 10 minutes then the heat goes out but the fan stays running. Re-light it and it does the same thing.

The fan will continue to run after the flame goes out to prevent the element from overheating from residual heat. It should stop after a minute or two, when the element is cooled down.

It could be a venting problem. Make sure the vents are clean. When it's not lit, air gets into it. When you light it, it slowly uses what air it has and it starves for oxygen.

It could be a misadjusted thermostat and it's turning off before you think it should. Try setting it higher and see if it runs a bit longer. My thermostat on my house furnace runs 10 degrees higher than it should, so I just keep it 10 degrees lower than it says.

Raypak 403A, burners will not stay lit for more than a few minutes.

i'm thinking after the main valve opens the pressure could be dropping in the pilot tube. this could be due to a dirty, plugged and sometimes spider web inside the pilot tube. rare but does happen, nice warm home for a spider. good luck. if not let me know. could also be weak pilot coil.

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

Pilots lites , holds ok for minutes, but once move

Hello KJGreen, It sounds, based on your description, as though the thermocouple is faulty and should be replaced. If the pilot light stays lit and you've left it on for several minutes before turning the knob on to light the log set, then that indicates that the thermocouple is bad.

The thermocouple is a safety device (heat sensor) designed to stop the flow of gas to the burner in the event the gas flame goes out and the pilot goes out. The sensor will only allow the gas valve to open once it has reached the preset temperature.

To confirm that the thermocouple is defective, I would light the pilot light and allow it to remain lit for up to 10 minutes before I attempted to turn on the log burner. If, after 10 minutes, the log burner still won't stay lit, then you know that the thermocouple needs to be replaced. Otherwise, the burner should light, since after 10 minutes, the sensor should be hot enough to signal the gas valve to open.

If you are going to have this replaced, please make sure you use only an approved supplier, since an incorrect replacement part could cause an unwelcome malfunction of the gas log burner. Safety should be primary when dealing with open flame burners.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
