T seems like people are having problems with getting the Fn Brightness and CD Eject Keys working when installing XP.

The following files and install method works here:

01. Install SFEP [AR51] (Right Click - Install SonyNC.inf)

02. Install Sony Shared Library [AR51] and Restart when prompted

03. Install Sony Utilities DLL & Settings Utility Series [BX4]

04. Install VAIO Event Service. Select Custom and Check VESUnique and Sound [BX4]

05. Copy AR51 Vista VESConfig.ini (from attached zip file) to folder C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Event Service

06. Start - Run services.msc

07. Find Vaio Event Service in the Services list and Restart the Service.

Your Fn and EJECT Buttons should now work.

Hi, if you have Daemon Tools installed and physical DVD drive don't open pushing eject soft button  you don't need to uninstall Daemon Tools, just change drive letters choosing for the real drive a letter alphabetically minor than letter of the logic drive installed by Daemon Tools...
It worked form me.
Bye

Hi there,
please check if you have installed virtualCD or daemon tools on your computer, since these programs are able to block the eject functionality.
I also had this problem and after I've uninstalled the daemon tools the eject button works again.

bye

I have satellite C50D-B-10q. How do I open the CD/DVD drive?

Removing discs
To remove the disc, follow the steps as detailed below:
Do not press the eject button while the computer is accessing the optical disc drive. Wait for the optical disc drive indicator to go out before you open the disc tray. Also, if the disc is spinning when you open the disc tray, wait for it to stop before you remove it.
1. To pop the disc tray partially open, press the eject button. Gently pull the disc tray out until it is fully opened. When the disc tray pops open slightly, wait a moment to make sure the disc has stopped spinning before pulling the disc tray fully open.
2. The disc extends slightly over the sides of the disc tray so you can grasp it. Gently lift out the disc.
3. Push the center of the disc tray to close it. Press gently until it locks into place.

How to remove disc when the disc tray will not open:
Pressing the eject button will not open the disc tray when the computer power is off. If the power is off, you can open the disc tray by inserting a slender object (about 20 mm) such as a traightened paper clip into the manual eject hole near the eject button.

Manual eject hole:
Turn off the power before you use the manual eject hole. If the disc is spinning when you open the disc tray, the disc could fly off the spindle and cause injury.

CD/DVD Drive Tray problems
There are two ways to open the CD/DVD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD/DVD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drive tray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive tray pops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CD/DVD disc.
If you still having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and needs replacing.

A disk appears to be stuck in the disc drive. It will not eject.

You should see a small hole next to the eject button on your drive. Take a paperclip and push it into that hole. It will force the drive to eject.

HOW DO i GET CD TO EJECT? WHAT DO I HIT?

There is an eject button on the drive tray, when the notebook is powered up then press this button to open the tray.
If it still does not open then straighten a paper clip and insert it into the pin hole in the tray and push it in gently until the tray pop out, you can then pull the tray fully out to get at the CD.

Cd stuck inside laptop

There is a small hole, usually near the eject button. Unbend a paper clip and carefully push the paper clip into the hole, try to keep it straight. drive should pop right out.
