Will a hayward pool cleaner that is for a fibreglass pool work in a vinyl pool

Most Hayward pool cleaners, including the Navigator that you pictured above, are designed to work on fiberglass, gunite, and vinyl liner pools. If you have this pool cleaner, it should work on any of these surfaces effectively.

My Hayward pool sweep gets stuck when it goes over the drain at the bottom of the pool

It could be worn shoes on your pool cleaner causing the problem, but it is most likely just that you need to get a ring drain cover to cover your anti-vortex drain. It creates a smoother surface and is designed specifically to work with in ground automatic pool cleaners that are getting stuck on the drain.

Hayward Navigator just had shoes and wings replaced. Everything seems to be working but moves extremely slow, even when suction is increased.

Did you have the turbine and A-Frame inspected or the gear box at the back of the cleaner looked at? Hayward Navigators are 100% repairable and most every pool store carries every single part to make the repairs. If these parts are also worn down, you will notice performance issues with your cleaner.
Before we assume the worst, lets run the cleaner through a few inspections.
Simple Troubleshooting for your Hayward Navigator When It Is Not Moving

The most common reason the Hayward Navigator stops moving is there is something blocking the mouth of the cleaner. Pull the cleaner out of the water while the equipment is turned off and make sure the cleaner is not clogged with debris or plugged with a pool toy. Also, make sure that all the internal components are properly installed.

Not Enough Suction - Next, verify that there is enough suction to allow the cleaner to work properly. While the pool equipment is on, lift the Hayward Navigator to just below the surface of the water and feel to see if there is a reasonable amount of suction getting to the cleaner. If there doesn't seem to be enough pressure, make sure all baskets are clear of debris, the main pool filter is clean, and that the diverter valve is open to the pool cleaner.

Small Debris Inside the Navigator - If there seems to be enough suction getting to the Navigator, but the pods are not moving back and forth, there is probably some small debris inside the cleaner that is stopping the turbine from moving. In order to remove any debris from inside the cleaner, remove the small access cover from the bottom of the cleaner by loosening the one screw until the plate pulls off. Use your fingers or the hose to clean the inside of the cleaner out.

If following these simple troubleshooting tips doesn't correct your cleaner issue, there is probably a mechanical issue. Take your cleaner into a local swimming pool retailer or have a service company out to assist (though most pool stores will not ever charge you for labor to make repairs!)

Thank you for posting your question on Fix Ya! I hope to have been of some help to you regarding this issue and if you need some additional clarification, please feel free to let me know what happened with your cleaner! Navigator goes in circles

When this problem occurs with these automatic pool cleaners, it is usually an issue with the house having a kink or blockage. I would check that first. If you have, make sure that the wings and shoes are not worn. Make sure the water pressure is not too high. Check the rear screen to make sure that it is clean and not blocked. Check to see that the cone gear is free of obstructions. It might also be the gear box that needs to be replaced.

I just bought a new pool cleaner and connected it but it floats up to the surface of the pool after an hour or so. Please let me know how to solve this. i have always had a hayward system and was just...

With these automatic pool cleaners, this is a pretty common problem with newer models and one that is usually an easy fix. First make sure that you are getting the proper amount of water flow and that it is consistent. Too much water flow can cause the cleaner to rise to the surface during cleaning. Make sure that you have proper tension in the rear flap. Too much tension could cause it to float. Make sure that all air is removed from the cleaner head. Make sure that the hose is not becoming tangled and that the return lines are functioning properly.

My navigation bug is moving very slow any suggestions...it has new flaps and is not clogged.

With this kind of automatic pool cleaners, I would usually suggest that you first check the flaps and check for clogs, so you made good first attempts. My next suggestion would be to check your water flow. Make sure that it is strong enough and adjust the water flow gauge if necessary.

Assembly questions on new hayward navigator pool cleaner.

The flow guage you use to adjust the flow through the hose. It plugs into the end of the hose instead of the cleaner head. Place it under water and adjust the flow till it is between the lines. If you didn't use the other itims on the old unit you won't use them on this one. They would fit in the skimmer where the hose hooks in to it.
