At first the noise happend once in awhile. A kind of tapping/squeaking sound. This went on about 3 weeks of daily use, now it is a constant loud rattiling type sound. How can I repair it and where on the dreyer do I look first to best spot the problem. Is this doable by a non professional like myself or should I call in the pros? thanks

Re: Loud rattling noise during operation.
Check inside the drum for loose plastic bars that help tumble the clothes. If you can shake them, open the cabinet top and tighten the bar screws on the outside of the drum. If any appear stripped and don't tighten, remove the bar from the machine and inspect for cracking around the screw holes. If found, replace with new parts. Otherwise, try breaking off matchsticks in the holes and see if the screws will tighten. The top is either held on with screws in the back--then slide the top backwards to remove, or there is a pair of spring clips in the front corners that require a thin putty knife to be slid into each clip and pushed until the clip releases. The back end of the top usually has plastic hinges and won't come entirely free of the cabinet. Hope this helps!

Hi, Anonymous I would love to help you with your engine or chassis noise but I just loaned my brand new pair of listening ears to your local dealer's chief technician so he could take your bike for a test ride and give you his professional opinion and estimate about your noise and repair cost. If you are a little short on "DRACHMA" and a Dealership is not on your list of fun places to visit then perhaps the list below will help soothe your worried mind so you can make an informed decision.

Here is a tip that I wrote about dryers and noises...
It will help you determine what is happening there...
I bought a new GE Washer GTWN5050MWS yesterday. From the first load it squeaked each time the tub moved back and forth (no agitator in the infusion type) It is a quick squeak and kind of resembles a cat getting it's tail under a moving rocking chair. I checked the entire owners manual and it describes several noises and not one of them describes what my new washer is doing. It does not make this sound except for when it is in the wash cycle. Spinning is quiet, and during the agitation of the rinse cycle it is a much more subdued squeak. But during the wash cycle it is not acceptable.
I called GE this morning and they told me it was normal operation for all infuser types of their washer to make this noise. Tomorrow I will be taking it back for a full refund.
We purchased this machine because our 2-year old front loading GE washer broke down (discharge pump I think) and to get it fixed usually takes a couple of weeks. We thought it might be better to have a 2nd washing machine instead of paying the laundry mat. It took a month to get the last one declared unfixable in 2008. Maybe I was wrong. But this is very bad luck to have a brand new washing machine squeak so loud out of the box.
We have a Bosch Nexxt dryer and it, too, squeaks during operation. We have not been able to find a permanent solution for this problem although we've had the repairman come out 3 times now. We have however found a temporary solution that lasts for about a week. We spray Static Guard (in an aerosol can) in the inside lining of the dryer... kind of in the lip of the front. (You shuld be able to feel it if you put your hand right inside the door.) We've just been spraying the static guard all the way around that area and the squeaking stops! Hope this works for y'all. May not be permanent but at least it stops the annoying sqeaking!
