Question about D-Link RangeBooster G WBR-2310 Wireless Router (WBR2310)

1 Answer

Lost disk, password etc. to my D-Link Router..can I still use it

Ok I need one of those answers that ends with "for dummies" I have a D-Link WBR-2310 router that I used at my office some time back and converted over to a different service and want to hook it up at home..but I do not have the disk...password etc. I already tried typing in the www.192.168.0.1 and even copy and pasting it in to my browser ..but all I get is another Google search...So any one out there that knows how to explain what to do now, to their grandfather with ADHD, hit me back, ?! Please, Paul

Try typing 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.0.1. Do not type www. If a username and password is requested type admin for both.

I have hooked the ethernet cable to the port on the back of my main router [AT&T Uverse DSL] plugged in the power supply and followed some directions I found on the web but I do not have the disk that came with it any more, nor do I know the password. So that is far as I get.

With the router powered on, place a paper clip into the hole on the back on the unit labeled Reset. Hold the paper clip down for 10 seconds and release. Note: Do not repower unit during this procedure. The unit will reboot on its own. Once the WLAN light stops blinking, the unit is reset.
Resetting the router does not reset the firmware to an earlier version. It will change all settings back to factory defaults. The factory default username is admin, and there is no password.

    Sorry, there was more:

Once the router has been reset, connect it to your PC with a standard Ethernet cable. To access the router configuration utility, open a web-browser such as Internet Explorer and enter the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1).

In response to your comment beginning "I have hooked the ethernet cable..." which I believe occurred after my solution was posted (at least I received a notification that a new comment was posted to this problem):

I don't understand why you are bringing an additional router in to complicate the problem. Please perform the steps presented in the solution and previous comment provided, using only your PC, the D-Link router, and a single ethernet cable between them. The name and password are provided in that solution. Confirm that you can reach the router's configuration screen using those instructions. If so, then you are ready to configure your router for its new job.

You DO NOT need the original CD to do anything to the router that you cannot do just as well through the normal interactive interface.

How to get the password of d-link router after reset?

You connect from your computer by putting the network IP Address into Internet Explorer. After you reset, you set your own password. Try putting 192.168.1.1 into the browser URL line and press enter.

Computer and printer suddenly won't communicate over wireless network. Multiple reboots, reconnects to network and re-downloading the driver didn't help.

Hi Bruce, It's probably your Wi-Fi connection that has lost the connectivity. Your password or simply your Modem needs to be rebooted.

I currently have a belkin wireless g MIMO and want to replace with N1 vision. Will all the set up be lost (password) when I switch to N1 vision. Can I just plug the new one and ready to go? Thanks

Yes, all the setting and password, WEP encryption password, etc WILL BE LOST. Well they are not actually lost, they remain on the old router until you delete them or reset the router to the factory default.
I think what you are really looking for is will the setting and passwords transfer automatically(NO)
So you need to write down the old setting and password if you want to keep them and put them into the new router during set-up.
Unless you are going to personally keep the old router, for security, reset it to clear out the passwords. The reset procedures is the same for both routers
Just in case you do not have the new owners manual here is the direct link to Belkins.

We are trying to secure the wireless router. On the install disk it asks for the internet account name and password. Our internet provider states we do not have a name or password for the system and that...

ok you need to open your internet browser and in the address bar enter 192.168.0.1 then a login prompt will come up enter admin for the user name and leave the password blank. then when you get to the router configuration page select the setup wizard and follow it to the end and that should be it, if you still have problems uninstall the setup that you did from disk they may confict. ok hope that helps and just in case you dont have the manual here is the link to the support page for your router http://www.dlink.com/products/?tab=3&pid=WBR-2310&rev=WBR-2310 please let me know if i can assist you any further and how you go.

I lost my setup disk, and I can't use it without it.

If you lost the setup disk of your router, you can set it up manually.
First is you need to find out what type of connection is your ISP, cable, dsl, or fiber optic etc. If it is cable or fiber optic, it's a plug and play. If it's dsl, you need to get your username and password from your ISP.

Lost aol start up cd for my router

    1. Connect your router to a computer by plugging one end of an Ethernet Cable into any of the four LAN ports on the back of your router.
    2. Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed.
    3. To install your router, simply click on the "Setup Wizard" link at the top of the left-hand navigation menu once you are logged into your router.

    No installation CD

    Lost or Unable to use Router Configuration CD Problem: var js_3;function initPsDisplay(){js_3 = new PsDisplay({"info":{"controller_name":"PsDisplay","name":"PsDisplay_3","type":"FormField","w_id":3},"attrs":{"label":"","tabindex":"","field_name":"description","cf_id":"","table":"answers","highlight":0},"js":null});js_3.init();}YAHOO.util.Event.onDOMReady(initPsDisplay);
NETGEAR does not replace lost or broken CDs because the Smart Wizard installation and configuration utility on the CD is already built into your router management software. There is no need to download anything to replace the CD - everything you need is in your router. This is true even if:
    • the CD that shipped with the router has been lost or cannot be read, or
    • errors occur when running the configuration program, or
    • the router is not connected to a computer using the Windows operating system.

    Workaround: var js_4;function initPsDisplay(){js_4 = new PsDisplay({"info":{"controller_name":"PsDisplay","name":"PsDisplay_4","type":"FormField","w_id":4},"attrs":{"label":"","tabindex":"","field_name":"solution","cf_id":"","table":"answers","highlight":0},"js":null});js_4.init();}YAHOO.util.Event.onDOMReady(initPsDisplay);

Ok. Firstly you must open up a web browser (Internet Explorer). Then in the address bar....type 192.168.1.1
A message box should pop up asking for a password. Leave the username blank and type admin for the password. That will allow you to change all settings on your router. You must then look for a security tab. In there look for security encryption. WPA/WEP2 either should work. Follow the instructions onscreen to set a password on the router end. Then on your computer you must open your network connection by clicking on the monitor with green waves coming out of it, in the bottom right corner of your taskbar. Then click View Available Wireless networks. Double click your network....type password when prompted....and VIOLA secured :)

    LOST DISK PLZ HELP

    Hi MRknowles,

You should not need a disk, all software is built in to the D-link 524.  Hook up the cables and power to the D-link 524. Using the end of a paper clip , depress the reset button which is to the right of the Power connector.  You should see the word reset next to the little hole.  Then open internet explorer and type 192.168.0.1 into the browser.  Press Enter.   The Default password is admin, and the user name is admin. The D-link setup wizard screen should appear to allow setup of the Router. If you need more info , please repost a comment to this posting, and I will  get an email to respond to your question.  I hope this helps you and I will be attentive to any questions you may have.
