I have a continental elec port. air. Not sure of model. Cools great but when compressor kicks on unit make a loud whistling noise. Cleaned filter no help.

although annoying, at this time i would not mess with it, the fan motor needs oiling (zoom spout oiler ) works the best .. you can find how in my other postings.. try running the unit on a lower fan speed... some cool is better than NONE

I have a CE-PAC1061-1 . I would like to know if it can be used as a dehumidifer. I do not have a manual.

All ac units are dehumidifiers. It should have a collection pan for the water it pulls from the air.

Do you need to use water

no need for water.

This Portable Air Conditioner does not need a water bucket emptied. The water evaporates on its own, a feature that most portables dont have. Also bear in mind that this unit is serviced by Sears a very reputable Company in the Appliance world for your peace of mind.

How do I make the water flow down on its own?

Hi, I own 3 of these. They were not designed to pump water out. I actually have put them on bricks to increase the height above the tray I collect water in. (so gravity works) They also use water to help with cooling, which is vented out the warm exhaust vent. Actually, it's not the best design, but at least it works for a portable unit.
