If it's anything like my Onkyo surround receiver, pressing any input selection will turn on unit.

Onkyo tx-ds989 goes to stand by mode just playing for 3 second ... rest every thing is ok I just hear a click sound (relay switch off) and it goes to stand by mode again switch it on .... same thing...

Check the speaker wiring on back that it is not shorting against one another, output ic's may have bad solder connections and should be checked carefully.

Cd player stopped working

The problem is in the power supply sector of the board, usually caused by a bulging capacitor that needs to be replaced.

Onkyo TX8211

The most likely problem is shorted output transistors. This is a straightfoward repair for any shop that works on audio gear. Expect a parts cost in the $40-$50 range.

Onkyo TX-DS777 goes straight to protection mode

Hello. You have shorted audio outputs. One of your channels has shorted output transistors. If your unit uses output ICs then one of them is shorted. Both types ( individual transistors or ICs ) are located on the large finned heat sink. The parts are available from http:\\www.tritronicsinc.com. good luck

Onkyo TX-SR500 loosing settings

Turning any receiver off will erase the settings - there is no backup battery (Onkyo uses Battery Free Memory Backup) and the length of time depends on the capacitor charge. Why not just leave the receiver plugged in? Stand-by mode uses a negligible amount of power - enough to keep the capacitors charged and the LED on the front panel on.

Brand new Onkyo Tx-sr605 won't leave stand by

If the unit will not leave standby I would remove all power, disconnect *all* connections at the back, reconnect to a power source and try powering on. This will eliminate any connection causing the Onkyo to stay in standby due to a short. If it still will not enter power-on mode, you may want to look at the power source (is it properly grounded?), but beyond that the unit probably needs to go back.
