Question about Mitsubishi WS-55857 55" Rear Projection Television
This is a common problem with these sets and is usually the convergence IC chips. The soldering joints on them become loose over time as they heat and cool and eventually lose connection. This usually just requires the chips to be re soldered. If it is not fixed promptly, the IC chips then go bad. If you can give your TV a good WHACK! and the problem either goes away or comes back, the chips are probably just loose. A shop will charge about 250-300$ for this repair, or you can order a kit and do it yourself for about $100.
