Question about SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Micro SDCZ62048A10 Hard Drive

1 Answer

I have an older HP Pavilion PC with Windows ME. I recently copied 164 Adobe Acrobat files from my ?C? Hard Drive to a 2 GB SanDisk USB 2.0 Flash Drive without any problems. Now I cannot copy any more files to the Flash Drive. I am getting the following Error Message. ?Error copying file or folder, cannot create or replace filename:, The directory or file cannot be created.? There is plenty of storage space left on the Flash Drive (58.4MB used, 1.8GB Free). I have been copying the files to the Flash Drive by going to the desktop, clicking on ?My Documents?, click on ?filename to be copied?, click on ?Edit?, click on ?Copy to Folder?, click on ?Removable Disk D:? This problem has got me baffled. I would appreciate any help you could provide to resolve this problem.

I deleted all of the files from the SanDisk Flash Drive and formatted it by going to "My Computer", Right Click on "Removable Disk(D)", Click "Format". That did not solve the problem.
I still can only copy 165 files and then I get the error message and can not copy any more files even though it shows plenty of storage space available (55.6 MB used, 1.80 GB Free).

I will try you suggestion but I think Windows ME must be the problem. I have two other 2 GB SanDisk's and the sme thing happens when I copy files to them.
It's hard to believe that all three SanDisk's are defective.

Yes, the USB port is on the back of the computer (built-in). On the back of the SanDisk package under System Requirements Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Macintosh are listed but not ME. Also requires Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port and high power USB hub port. Looks like Windows Me is not compatible with USB 2.0. Let me know if there are any Flash Drives that are compatible with Windows ME. When I was looking for a Flash Drive, I couldn't find any for ME, so I took a chance and got the SanDisk 2.0 since it was compatible with Windows 2000. Are there major differences between Windows ME and Windows 2000?

Sounds like the F.A.T. (File Allocation Table) is bad on the drive. Try to format it and then copy everything back to it once again.

Lets try another "Prosess of elimiation"
Try doing the same thing in another computer.
If it works than we know it is the computer with ME
if it don't work on the other computer than the 2 GB SanDisk is bad.

Let me know eather way it goes... Ok?

You failed to mention that 3 different thumb-drives are doing the same thing on that computer with ME.
    That shure changes things.
This must me a built-in USB port you are using.. Right?
And sence the computer has ME on it it will be USB 1.1
I will reasearch and see if there is a PCI UUSB 2.0 that will run under ME Have drivers for ME)

Hello, I have Sandisk Cruzer blade 4 gb pendrive. But now it shows I/O error while copying data to it. please give a solution.

Copy all the files from it to your 'C:' drive, and burn the files to one DVD-recordable disk.
Then, responsibly recycle the SanDisk, and spend $10 to buy a new flash-drive.
Copy the files from the 'C:' drive, or the DVD disk onto the new flash-drive.
Keep multiple copies of your files, just in case this "new" flash-drive also "fails".

HOW CAN I PUT A FOLDER AND THEN A FILE ON TO A SANDISK CRUZER USB 2.0 4GB FLASH DRIVE ?

When plugged on a computer running Windows, the SanDisk Cruzer appears as 2 icons: a CD-ROM and a regular hard drive. The drive letters for the two are consecutive (ex: E:CD_ROM, F:SanDisk.
Any file or folders that you have to store on the SanDisk drive must be stored on the second device.

If the folder already exists on your computer, point to it with mouse cursor and right click. In the menu options look for the one that says copy and select it.
Open the Windows Explorer, locate theCuruzer icon that represents the hard drive part, click on it to open it. Point somewhere where there are no icons and right click the mouse cursor. Select the submenu Paste.

To copy and paste you can also use the keyboard shortcuts CTRL-C and CTRL-V

You can also open 2 explorer windows side by side, one showing the folder you want to copy and another the contents of the SanDisk drive. You can drag the folder to copy from the computer hard-drive and drop

How do you use a flash drive on the computar

Hello

Install the USB Flash Drive:
Plug the USB flash drive into a free USB port on your laptop (it is an approximately 1/2" slot, either on the side or back of the laptop).
Windows XP operating system should recognize it. It may ask you what you want to do with it. Select "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" and click OK.
Operating system should assign it a drive letter (see the title of the Windows Explorer window that opens).

Use the USB Flash Drive:
In Windows Explorer, click Folders button on the menu bar to show the installed drives on the left pane of the screen.
To copy a file from c:\ (hard drive) to flash drive:
Find the file you wish to copy on the c:\ drive.
Right-click it and select Copy.
Right-click the location on the new drive where you wish to paste the file, and select Paste.
(File should now appear in desired location.)

Hope you find this useful, if you have any more questions, just leave a comment and i will get back to you as soon as possible.

Kind regards
Andrea

How do i use an sd card on my hp pavilion dv5020us? i cant figure out how to connect the card to the laptop so i can copy files to the card.

Hello !

Unfortunately, your laptop does not support SD Cards.

But, your laptop does support a USB flash drive, since it has 2 USB ports. The USB port is rectangular in shape. Then, you can copy your files to the flash drive.

Flash drives are inexpensive these days.

Hope this helps.

How to use flash drive

Cruzer Micro is an USB external memory where you can store files.
It is automatically detected and installed on all Windows OS from Windows 2000 onward, same on Mac OS and recent Linux versions.
All you have to do is plugging the device into USB.
After the flash drive had been automatically installed , it will be displayed under Computer as an external disk.
You can copy and transfer files using Cut, Copy and Paste functions, or Send to function in windows, or the file manager, depending on the OS used.
In Windows, before unplugging the memory from USB , it is better to turn off the computer or use the 'safely remove USB' function located near to the clock, on the lower right hand corner.

How do i transfer photos from my hp photosmart m537 camera to sandisk cruzer micro usb 2.0 flash drive 2gb.

Connect the HP camera to your windows pc using the usb cable provided. Open My Computer to ensure that the camera is being properly enumerated (given a hard disk letter). make note of the drive letter assigned.

If you have more than one USB port, insert your cruzer micro 2.0 stick into another USB port. Look in my computer again to determine what drive letter was assigned to the flash stick. Open a windows explorer window for each of the locations. One for the camera, the other for the flash stick. Its likely that the picture files are in a subfolder of a folder called DCIM.

Once you locate the files you want to transfer, you can highlight them using the mouse (click/drag a box around the files you want) and drag them to the other open window (flash stick folder)

If you don't have another available USB slot on the compter, you'll need to copy the files from the camera to a temporary location on your computer and then move them to the flash drive. In this case, make a new folder on the desktop and name it temporaryfiles. open that folder. open the drive letter assigned to the camera and copy whatever files you want from the camera to 'temporaryfiles'...

Then power off the camera and remove the usb cord from the computer. attach the flash disk to the newly free'd up usb port and open a windows explorer window to it. drag whatever files you want from 'temporaryfiles' folder into the folder for the flash stick.

I hope this helps!
