Can you provide the exact Make, Model and Kenmore model number? .......... Kenmore model numbers use the format ###.######## with the first three digits of 110 for Whirlpool manufactured machines......... The model number on top load washers is usually found by lifting the lid and looking above the tub. The Fixya numbers are Stock Numbers. Since basic top load direct drive, top load electronic and front load washers are very different, the actual Model Numbers are necessary to correctly diagnose the problem. See the following for how to remove the cabinet on basic top load, direct drive washers:http://www.american-appliance.com/catalo...

First, see the Sears Parts Site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=110.26742500&pathTaken=partSearch

It has a complete parts breakdown and diagrams of the washer:

Then see the following for how to remove the cabinet which will let you get to the back panel.

Kenmore 70 series model 110.20722990 wont drain and spin

It could be the timer or circuit board, until it is not draining, will not spin
If the timer or circuit board is OK, the you have a faulty drain pump or motor, to check this out remove the back panel.

Remove the screw on both sides of the control panel . Pull the panel foreward and tilt back . Unplug the plug coming out of the cabinet and using a flat head screwdriver , pop the clip on both sides thru the slots closest to the front of the cabinet . Tilt the whole cabinet foreward . Do not try taking the lid off the washer .

Why My Kenmore 70 Series Washer Won't Drain Or Spin?

You need to replace the lid switch. This is located under the case. you have to take the case off to change this part. This is done by taking the 2 screws out of the front of the control panel. Then flip the panel back and remove the 2 brass clips that hold on the case. Then you can remove the whole washer case to get acces to the lid switch. This is a very common problem and an easy problem to fix.

look at the bottom of the control panel on the end caps and back out the two screws then pull the control panel slightly forward and tilt it back then you should see gray wires either going in the body of the washer or to a switch on the left side un plug the harness and put a jumper wire across the connector going to the control panel then try spin

Belt on my kenmore 70 series washing machine

Your washer should be a direct drive unit, it has no belt. If you hear the motor running but nothing is happening you probably have a broken motor coupler. The coupler is about $10.

Pop off the trim pieces on each end of the console.
Remove the two screws that hold the console to the cabinet and flip the console back.
Remove the two clips that hold the cabinet to the rear panel of the washer and unplug the lid switch harness. The cabinet will tilt forward and slide off.
Remove the clips holding the water pump and move it to the side.
Unplug the wires from the motor and remove the clips holding it.
You will see the motor coupler.
Make sure you can turn the gearcase shaft with a pair of pliers so it is not locked up.
Post back and let me know what you find or if you need any help.
