Question about GE Dishwashers

Small black flecks on all the clean dishes

I have the same problem and sherrylee above: small black flecks all over my clean dishes and the inside of the machine. This is a NEW problem. I would appreciate any advice. I am doing nothing new re water temperature, loading, etc.I intend to try washing the machine with vinegar, but am not hopeful. One of my racks has lost about an inch of plastic coating, so metal shows through, but I don't think this is enough to produce the black flecks. But could it be the problem? Help would be appreciated.

SOURCE: dishes not getting clean

brittgee, there has been a number of service flashes on this model. One that has to do with the upper spray arm assy. Complaint is poor washability; gritty glasses, food redeposited on glasses, especially in the corners. They redesigned the upper spray arm to improve water spray to all corners of the upper rack. The new part number is 8269022. They also redesigned the third level spinner for more consistant rotation and better washability. This was also under a service flash. Part number.8193768. Other reasons for poor wash would be; low water temperature, rinse aid disp. not working, loading etc. back.

SOURCE: My dishwasher is not washing dishes on the top rack...

The top rack is not cleaning because of low water pressure from the wash motor to the upper spray arm.
Assuming the top spray arms are clear of debris, remove the lower spray arm to access the wash motor. Remove the 4 torx screws and the filter (accumulator assembly). Remove the torx screw and the inlet protector that covers the chopper assembly. Make sure the chopper is not broken (broken chopper will fill with debris and block water flow). While holding the chopper blade, reach inside the "D" shaped opening on top of the motor and spin the wheel/motor by hand in each direction to make sure either the chopper gear or the motor gear that drives the chopper is not broken. Replace the chopper if necessary . If the motor gear is broken, replace the sump and motor assembly . Remove any debris from the sump area in the process.
You don't have to shut the power off to the dishwasher because the door will be open, but if you feel more comfortable, do so.

Problem: Forming on inside glass shelves: tiny beige sand-grain-like flakes. Why??

dear Cristina the color and the small flakes sounds like the insulation they use for the refrigerators ...perhaps somwhere on the door or sides of the refrigerator there is a crack or hole and the insulation just situates on the shelves inside other than that i never heard of anything like this. I hope this helps out

Black flakes

Chances are what you are seeing is not mold, but deteriorated insulation from the inside of the unit being ejected out the air discharge.

You may need to partiallly disassemble the front of the unit and find the area where the insulation may be damaged. If it's badly deteriorated, it may need to be replaced. In some units, the insulation is glued. In others, it's clipped in.

If it's just bruised, then a small piece of metal screening (1/8" or 1/4" hardware cloth) can be placed and secured over the damaged area to prevent subsequent damage and the black flecks you are witnessing.

Our Kenmore 665 was leaving white flecks on dishes and glasses

The problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to to find out more info.

I have a Hotpoint Model HDA 110S-45WA. I have

If the flecks are as thin as a paint film, then they are most likely old dried-up food and garbage debri that has lodged itself in the crevices of the water jet paths. But, they usually only show when the dish washer sits for a long time unused, and then after such period, when you begin use, these pieces begin to flake off and of course show up. hey eventually stop. If it is pieces that are hard and rather thick, then it icould be shavings from the pump/grinder assembly within the dishwasher sump (pit ) area, and this is telling you that there is something lodged down there,or something is wearing loose and most likely there is some nosie associated with this (other thanthe normal running noise). Exposure density sensor problem. how do l solve it?

If you remove your drum unit, you can see the sensor inside. Make sure it is clean. If the problem returns, check the toner support of the drum unit. It is probably dropping toner onto the sensor. You will also see flecks of toner on your copies if the toner support is bad.

OKI Laser Printer C5300 printing on paper with black flecks

IF you are using after market black toner then we found your problem. Putting a real toner on now wont help cause dodgy toner is now in the drum, you need to replace Black drum and use real toner. If you are using gen OKI toner, then just replace the Black (K) drum.

Clean led head and these printers dont need a teco, they are designed for wearing parts to replaced by operator ie Transfer belt, fuser, drums and toners.
