Question about KitchenAid KGYS850LT Gas Dryer

1 Answer

I have a kitchen Aid Hevy Duty Super Capacity Plus gas dryer, Model # KGYS750Gq1 and when I dryed the close yesterday they smelled like gas, I know I do not have any kind of gas leak, but I did forget to clean out the lint and it was quite thick, would that have cause the smell, I of course cleaned out the lint but cannot get rid of the smell, I can turn it on and let it run a bit and open the door and still has that smell>

I don't believe that would cause a gas smell, but it would clean out anyways. Is the pilot still lit and the dryer working the same? Have you checked the gas valve for smell or leaks? They do make a tester for gas leaks that you can purchase to see if there are any leaks.

Well I know there is no gas leak,I do know that, when I pull out the basket, there is still a lot of lint, is there a way to clean inside, this happened before and it went away but it doesn't seem to be going away, The pilot light comes on and it heats just great so I just don;t know what my be happening, very strange.

from my recent studies, a clogged filter will cause some gas smell. I know that not all models have the filters and that the smell isn't from the filter because there isn't one. But if you have a filter, vacuum it out or rinse and blowdry.

I just have one more question, do you think it might be clogged somewhere I can't see or get to?

New dryer smells hot

It is not unusual for new appliances, espicially high heat ones like a dryer to smell hot. Also if this is your first gas appliance it might smell different than your old dryer if it was electric. Keep an eye on it when using it to see if you see any smoke. Also check your venting to make sure it is all clear with no blockage.

If its not heating up correctly you could have a bad thermostat, blocked up vent or dirty lint screen, or possible the coils that go near the ignitor need replacing.

Dryer smells like gas

If you smell gas then there is a leak. The gas company came out and checked for a leak? Get them back in the morning before you open the room to check again. Eric
