Question about Broan-NuTone Allure QS130SS Kitchen Hood

Open Question

Allure QS1 fan. Fan & lights not working. We've had the overhead fan for a few years with no problem. Now nothing is working and if it's a fuse, we can't find one and did not see one in our manual. All other outlets and lights in kitchen and adjoining rooms are working, so it does not appear to be a breaker problem

Check that you have not accidentaly switched the wall socket off in the cupboard above the rangehood. The slide switch could also be faulty.

my range hood lights would only work on highest setting. nothing on low or medium setting. fan working fine. I tripped the breaker off then on again at the electrical panel and behold, everything works perfectly fine now. don't know why it worked but it did!

SOURCE: Changing fuse on Nutone Allure Ws2

Hi Mertl, I sure hope you found the solution since, but I am posting the answer for other people like me (and you) who need to find it !

The service manual says:

To replace the fuse:
1. Disconnect power at service entrance.
2. Remove filters, bottom panel, light wire harness, and air chute.

The fuse is actually right behind the fan controls, so to access it you need to disassemble everything that's in the way.

BTW, for anyone wondering if it's the fuse that's faulty, here's a clue:

If the fuse has opened (blown), the green fan-level indicators
will operate properly when the fan buttons/switches are pressed
- but the fan and lights will not turn on.

The fuse is a 5 x 20 mm, 10 Amp, Fast-Acting, 125V (min.).

Good luck all !

Lights quit working on broad range hood

The tiny metal tabs that contact the very end of the light bulb after it is screwed in making a circuit get pushed back too far when you tighten the bulb and with all the steam and muck eventually fail to make contact. shut down the power and use a tiny screwdriver to gently nudge the electrical contacts back up "a little cleaning wouldn't hurt either" look at the very bottom of your bulb, clean that too perhaps with a few strokes of a wire brush, gently put the bulb back in and you are good to go, mine did the same thing.

Last night both fan and lights worked on my hood fan and lights. This morning neither are working. Checked house fuse box - everything ok there. what could be the problem does the allure have a fuse inside...

could be simething as simple as a disconnected wire, prior to calling for help, check these items if you feel okay with that , first turn off the circuit breaker and where the house wires come into the unit,, remove the wire nuts and check for burned areas,, if thats ok, reattach them and move to the switch or switches, unhook the wires, ( make note where each one goes ) and check them with a meter , this is probably where your problem will be,

Lights won't turn off - everything else works fine

I have a NuTone Allure WS2 range hood. The fan works fine, so does the control board seem ok, but the lights work only intermittently. NuTone tech support said to replace the control board, which I suspect is its kneejerk response. The board costs almost $200--and for two lights???

My problem is similar to the one whose lights work, fan doesn't, but I have a feeling my problem is different.I hope simpler.

Thanks in advance for help (light) on the problem anyone can offer.

Fan and lights come on and go off all day long on their own

We installed our Broan-Allure range hood about ten years ago. On three seperate occasions since, the fan has randomly turned on and none of the control buttons would turn it off. After a while it turns itself off. During those same times, when you turned the lights on, they would blink before finally staying on. On each occasion, I have removed the screens and metal underpieces to gain access to the circut board. Once you can see the circut board, remove and replace the 3 Amp fuse that is mounted on the board. (Radio Shack part # 270-1054)...even if the fuse looks good, replace it. Each time this has work for about three years, then it acts up again..

Had same problem & fuse fixed it.
Before buying a new control board (approx $160), check the 3 amp fuse located on the inside of the vent on the control board. You have to take the light/bottom housing & black plastic air chute off to see control board/fuse.
