My color wheel shatered

I have the same problem with my sp4805. I figure I have nothing to lose if I try to fix it myself provided the part is reasoable enough. It has been great till now.

The color wheel of my Sharp XG MB70X shattered where can I buy a new one?

  • Anonymous Nov 12, 2008

I turned on the SP 4805 last night and instantly heard a very loud popping noise (I blew a bulb once before and it sounded ver similar to that).

I thought it was the bulb popping, but to my surprise, the projector began projecting just as it always has...but only in black and white, so I assume I have a shattered color wheel as well.

If it isn't a cheap and easy fix, I'll be buying a new (and HD) projector. I've been overall happy with my 4805, but have been putting up with the "light tube" issue making the left foot or so of my screen darker than the rest for about 18 months now and if I can't fix both issues with one fell swoop, then I'm upgrading.

My color wheel on my infocus 4805 also fell apart. I can't find a replacement wheel does anyone know where i can get one. Infocus refuses to sell this product unless I send them my machine and they do the work for way to much money. I will never buy from Infocus again what a scam. If anyone knows where i can purchase a replacement color wheel please help

Is this for the infocus 4805?

If so, where do you get the wheel from?

Hi there

The colourwheel on a DLP Projector is really cheap and easy to replace.

You'll see once the machine is open that the clour wheel is in a bracket and fastened with 2-3 small screws.

Simply unscrew the bracket , take out the lint that goes from the colourwheel to the Mainboard and plug out the small connector situated right next to the lint.

If your new colourwheel doesn't come in it's own bracket , simply take out the 3 screws on the bottom of the existing colourwheel and screw in the new one.

Remember to plug back in the small connector and lint into the Motherboard once your colourwheel is in. Very , very quick and easy to do.

Hope this will help you.

I need a Color Wheel for a Dell 2300MP Projector

sending it in for service will cost about $300-400 to fix as I've already gotten quotes - I figure if I can get a color wheel for < $100 it's worth it to me since I can install it myself. The dell is still a nice projector... if I sell it for parts it's worth $100 or less... if I fix it to work it's worth $400-500... so I figure "why not try"
Buy another projector. Your current dell model is not worth repairing IMO.

An optoma h70 is a fantastic replacement that will provide far superior performance.

another idea is to try craigs list and look for a dell for a projector for parts.

good luck

Color Wheel SP 4805

well, u might laugh at how i have solved this problem a couple of times... yea, the colour wheel on my sp4805 came apart to pieces, literally. the first time it was only two of the six segments, so i reglued em with SUREHOLD all american super glue. it lasted perfectly for about , say, 5 months or so... then, it happenned again this time shattering all of the six segments to pieces. oh, no!!!!! well, i breathed woundly and looked for the glue one more time... yes, an artesan work that took me about 3 hours and my eyes crying to almost perfectly glue together all of the six segments one by one, each one in pieces and this time the color, of course, isnt so perfect, but close to it... how long will it last this time? can someone tell me why no one sells this pieces, it would be a great business over the internet!!! i dont wanna bury my sp4805 in the backyard... and i dont know if the colour wheel can sustain any more glue... lol. well, its just a solution for a few months while u can save for a new proyector... shame for infocus... hope it helps u. let me know if u know about someone who sells color wheels ok?
