SOURCE: need brushes and on-off switches for milwaukee

I would need the exact model number and serial number to help but the brush number is 22-18-0710 and there could be a couple different switches. Either give the ser number (the alpha code) or you can go direct to Milwaukeeelectrictool.com and type in the model number 6140 on the page for the breakdown. it might be easier to let me do it. I worked there for 17 years and if you can't get the alpha code look at the switch and I would need a good description of it

How replace blade on 7 1/4 circular saw - Milwaukee

UNPLUG THE SAW first!! Look for the blade lock on the top or front of the motor body, Hold the lock button down while turning the blade nut with a wrench. After a bit you'll feel the lock button engage and hold the blade firm. Rotate the the wrench counter clockwise and remove the nut, Slide the blade out from under the guard and replace with a new one. Reinstall the nut following the above procedure.

Milwaukee 6153-20 grinder is running extremely hot.

Your grinder is either working too hard because of broken or seized bearings or the fan is broken or detached from the armature. Take the brushes out then remove the four screws holding the gear housing on the motor housing. Remove the armature and check the fan and both bearings. If the armature bearings and fan are OK check the bearings and gear teeth in the gear housing.

I just bought a hand grinder from a guy but don't know how to take the disc off . it has a button u push but no nut on the disc

If there isn't an arbor nut holding the blade/disc on the grinder you have a disc with the threaded center built into it. While holding the arbor lock button down you have to turn the disc by hand until it breaks free and spins off. It may be on vary tight as it is a self-tightening thread so the disc won't come off while you use it.

My 4WD won,t engage. I checked the fuses and electrical connections. What should I check now?

If you have the push button 4x4 it will have a electric motor on the side of the transfer case. Have someone push on the button while you tap on the motor with a screwdriver handle. If the 4x4 engages it means your motor is getting weak and will need replaced or rebuilt.

Can't remove the blade from Milwaukee grinder. It seems very akward to hold the button down and turn the wrench at the same time. The bolt may be on too tight, as the wrench started to bend while trying to...

Lay it on its side and lean on it while you're holding the spindle lock button in- if you're right handed lay it on its right side with its back to you. Lay your elbow wherever you can on the handle once you get the button pushed and use your right hand for the wrench. If it's in the position I mention you'll push the wrench down to remove the wheel.

You can heat the center of the wheel, the metal part, to expand it a little.. makes it easier to get off sometimes.

The trick is to put the wheel on properly. Put a little NevrSeize on the spindle threads and screw the wheel on. Don't go picking up the grinder and hitting the switch because that will hammer that wheel on. Just screw it on and tighten fairly firmly. It only has to be tight enough to seat well on the spindle- it only turns one way, so as long as the wheel doesn't come off when it's coasting down it's tight enough.

Wear your safety glasses when grinding, them darn sparks are bad for your eyes.

I cannot get off the abrasive cutoff wheel I put on the grinder

I believe the thread is left hand, but close inspection should verify. Also you should never over tighten cutoff wheels or grinding wheels. You should be able to remove with a gloved hand while holding button on top with the other hand

Motor revs but grinder does not engage.

Hi,
I am what you would call an expert when it comes to Baratza repairs.
The problem you are describing is not an unusual one. It sounds like the main drive gear has been stripped due to something foreign (likely a stone) sneaking into your grinder with the beans. It would have jammed the burrs, and because of the powerful torque from the motor, the drive gear has been stripped so it will no longer (or rarely) engage the burrs.

To solve this problem you will need to contact COAG Ltd (if you live in Canada) or Baratza if you are from the US. If you machine is still under warranty (less than a year old) this repair will be free of charge and you shouldn't be parted from your grinder for long.

I hope this helps anyone who stumbles upon this and finds themselves with the same problem.
Kind Regards
Emily
